First of all, I have about 91,000 miles on the car (and probaby the tires too). Although, I do not know for a fact they are the original tire. They may not be. They surely don't appear to be (the tread looks good on all 4 tires).....I needed a rotations tho. Anyway, back to the story, I was on my lunch break from work. I had just gotten of the freeway and my front passanger tire blew out. There looks to be an inch or so gash in the tire (in the center of the tread.) I guess it could have been brought on from a nail or something in the road, but I didn't see anything there or stuck in the tire. It was instantaneous too. It was as if the tire had air one second and then a split second later all the air was gone. I was driving on the rim by that time (which is now bent by the way.) Luckily I did not lose control, nor was I or my passenger hurt. It sounded like my car had just slammed ito a brick wall. Guess the 4000 lbs was acting like a paper weight!
First of all, does anyone think the Michelin MXV4 pluses last for 90 thousand miles plus? If not, do you think I can get the tires replaced under warranty? From everything I have heard about these tires I don't think I want another set! Also, can the aurora rims be remachined to like new conditioned? It it safe? Worth the money? If the tire is under "warranty" and I can get it replaced with another tire or if I can get credit for another set of tires, what is everyones opinion about Yokohoma Avid V4's (I think thats the name).
By the way, the car does not appear to have gotten a scratch on it from this incident.
