My stepfather died last week on his 90th birthday. His 1999 Aurora was his most prized possession. Until, I started doing research over the last few days, I did not realize the special character of his Aurora. Based upon what I have learned, I would probably keep the Aurora but for the fact that I know very little about auto repair and do not have the time nor tools that I would need to properly maintain it. Most of the people who have replied to me live in the NE, Midwest. Florida or eastern Canada. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR SUGGESTIONS TO FIND INTERESTED PEOPLE IN CALIFORNIA? Thanks, Jim

Hey jim, I moved this to "Local Meets"... although you're not exactly looking to set up a meet per se, that's probably the best way to find out of other Aurorians are in a certain area. For the record, you don't really need any special abilities to own an Aurora. Maintenance is just like any other car for the most part. Consider keeping it! Sounds like your stepfather took good care of it, so hopefully failing parts wouldn't be an issue.

Hi Jim - You have my deepest sympathies for the loss of your father. As you've already noticed, us Cali boys are pretty rare here. I've seen about four or five over time, but probably only one or two who have remained "active" members. There seems to be a lot more Auroras in the eastern US than here in the west. In fact, there are only two Auroras (one of which is mine) in the 50,000 person city in which I live. I've always thought that was pretty cool since it made my baby unique, but it does make it a little tough to organize a meet-up

He went house-to-house over many months, making careful notes of every car in every driveway and garage. I can see Shawn now, creeping up to a garage window at night and peeking in with a flashlight - "another Impala... yyyesss!" lol ;D

Greetings from San Jose. I've seen 4 or 5 local cars here. Another white 98 like mine, a white pearl, green, and gold.
Good luck. I'm sure you checked around, but 2 things I would do with a recent acquisition of a 99 are:
BG motor flush to get rid of carbon, and flush out the red coolant and replace with the 2 year green.

I just bought a 2001 4.0 aurora and I love it. Who ever was the last owner took really good car of it. Since owning this car I see at least one around town a day but I haven't seen one the same color as mine. I have been really Happy with this car and I wish they still made them. If anyone in North CA shoot me a message! ;D
