That could be a good event. It likely would help to have our meet planned around some other event, so people can come and go as their availability permits. Rockford is a little less than 2 hours for me.

Anybody know who belongs to this really nice Illinois black classic ? It was posted last year at ACNA by its owner and I downloaded it. The member posted it with the license plate showing.

What would be a good time of the year for everyone? Labor Day Weekend at the "On The Waterfront" party in Rockford Rockford? A bit of a drive. How about Busse Woods Forest Preserve, it's would be some what of in the middle for most of us. Any other suggestions? Look forward to seeing you again Javi. Same here oldsnut. About how many Aurora owners you think we can expect to gather? We can make it a picnic or something.

I think Busse Woods Forest Preserve is farther for most, and not a great drive into Chicago. someone suggested dekalb (I think it was oldsnut - dang, I hate to agree with him ), more central, easier to get to. I think there could easily be 6 or 8 or more. I think some from southern wi, eastern ia, and west in, could possibly make it.

I dont want to name any names Scotty, but it looks like someone has been censoring me (well sorta) again ;D

I'm in east central Illinois, about 30 minutes south of Champaign-Urbana. I, for one, would be pretty embarrassed to bring my poor car. The windshield was replaced several years ago by one of those companies that comes to your house and does it in your driveway (when my in-laws still owned the car) and the two plastic strips that go down either side of the front windshield came flying up one time afterwards--I've had to glue one and tape the other with electrical tape. My rear plastic bumper is screwed up from when I ran off the road, so it actually touches the outsides of both exhaust pipes on either side. The plastic thing under the front of the car is screwed up (from the aforementioned off-roading incident). G.-- (Edited: I read about the page refreshing thing in one of the other messages and reset my browser and now all is well.....)

Nobody's cars are perfect griffey. Hell, my door has a ding in it from an A-hole in a parking lot but I would still come to a gathering. It is my daily driver for work and has many chips in the paint.
Fix some of that stuff on your car griffey, it's not that hard.

think there's only been 2-3 successful meets with multiple members in attendance. A couple more mini-meets (just a couple members) for people who live very near one another. So it would be significant and very cool if we could pull this off!

So it would be significant and very cool if we could pull this off! Sounds like we have lots of interest. Let's not let this slip through the cracks! Since we're planning a Spring/Summer event and currently it's January, there will be *some* downtime in the planning. We just need to stay interested and throwing out ideas over the next few months. So I pulled up Google Maps to plot the Rockford <-> Chicago distance, and compare Champaign, Quad Cities, Bloomington, and other areas people might be coming from. Look at the map and tell me what city is RIGHT in the middle (and no, I did not plan this): AURORA! Is any more discussion needed?!?!?!?

Hey what direction from Chicago are you in IL? There's more and more of us Illinoisians lately, we really ought to arrange a mini-meet. north west, towards rockford. I would definitely be up for a mini-meet! could I suggest Aurora? as in Aurora IL ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We've always joked about Auroras in Aurora, although not when an Illinois-area meet was actually a possibility. And now the MAP has spoken. Aurora, IL really is quite central to all the area we'd be traveling from, less than 2 hours for the furthest person (Quad Cities) that's chimed in so far.

This is great. Seems that Illinois is the Aurora Mecca of the US. Be diligent and make this happen. A little media advertisement just prior to the event and some followup coverage would be cool also. Good Luck !!!

Wow! You guys are making this this to easy on me. It might take me 10 minutes to travel there, depending on where we meet. Would you want to meet at a forest preserve or parking lot? There are many options in that area.
Just to let you folks back in Illinois know, I am typing this on my laptop while poolside in 60 degree temps in Phoenix. Usually someone is calling me on the phone while I am in the deep freeze. It is a nice little twist on it that I could get use to. ;D Be back home in a few days, or maybe not. I might just wait for spring training to start down here.
