Ok I don't want to shock anyone, but I did it! No, not the airbox mod. (Fooled ya!) I clayed my car! I know it's not a big thing for normal people, but for me it was. It took me about an three hours. Don't be alarmed! That three hours included washing, claying, and then waxing. So it wasn't too bad. Actually it was fun! I have some pics that I will post to show off the results. I don't know if ya'll (that's Texan speak) will be able to see how "rich" the color of the paint now is, but you should get the idea. P.S. I used MOTHERS'S CALIFORNIA GOLDĀ® CLAY BAR PAINT SAVING SYSTEM. Like it wasn't obvious from the subject of this thread!

Thanks! I should have been smart and backed into the driveway that you can see behind the car. That way the sun would refect of the car's paint. But, I hate to say it, I am not that smart.

Or you coulda just walked around the other side with your camera in hand ;D
Does the paint feel nice and smooth now? That clay bar removes all the imperfections that sit on the paint surface, giving it a nice smooth finish!

I actually did, but I don't like the picture! Yes, the paint is much smoother. I was thinking of putting an extra (2nd) coat of wax on there, but it's just to d**n hot. ;D

I would love to redo the exhaust, but I know it's gonna cost an arm and possibly a leg. I have some buddies that could do it for me, but they are back in Houston.

The car is looking really good! Are there spots on the front of the car or do I have bad pixels?

Can you buff that out or is it down to primer? Also, how did you get the wax out of the creases between the body panels?

I think the front had a lot of road chips at one point (it was a fleet car) and they "touched" them up for the 2nd owner. When I bought the car it was like that..............claying helped a lot, but I don't think I did it nearly long enough. I might try mothers paint chip repair (or whatever its called) one day soon.
As far as the wax out of the creases....... do you mean in between the molding and the panel itself? If so, I used the edge of a towel. Sometimes, for very tight spaces, I used a toothpick wrapped inside of a towel to dig at the wax and "scrape" it out....but be careful as to sot scratch the paint that you worked so hard to beautify. ;D ;D

The paint really looks washed out in the before shot. What a difference a clay makes!

It was much more........
it was rubbing coumpound, cleaner/wax, washing, clay, and more wax
now to tackle other jobs........... onward and upward.......up up and away!

My car is the same colour as erw38's - unfortunately it looks like the 'before' picture. I don't have that much patience either, I think I'll try the new Mr Clean and see how that works out.

It's actually relaxing when I go out and wash ans wax my car. I may be wierd, but it makes me happy. I think everyone should do it. Shows that you take some pride in the appearance of your investment. BTW.....my car was compared to a Mecedes the other day
