>:(Well here’s another one to add to the books. I was just out on my lunch break and I got tagged by an Expedition from CT. And then they had the audacity to place me at blame!! He was driving like an *******! Err I am so upset right now! This literally took place no more then 20 minutes ago. Guess what happened to their car! Nothing only a couple scratches that could be buffed out with little effort. My car on the other hand has a nice dent in the front of it and numerous little black scratches and scrapes…

Gah! oh no Parking lot is a tough little area, its private property. If it was a rear end, its your fault, who exactly did it happen? And what are you gonna do?

The expedition came flying around the car and into a space, I was in the middle of backing out, the SUV clipped the front of my car.

Sorry to hear Amanda. A similiar thing happened to me about 6 or 7 years ago. I was backing out of my space at a school's parking lot and some little honda civic (I think) tapped me on the bumper. Called the insurance company and they could not determine fault. So we each covered our own repairs. Not a scratch on mine.......good thing for steel bumpers

Unfortunately the fender bender happened on private property (a parking lot). Cops are not able to do anything (as far as an accident goes) on private property.

This is true, however I spoke with Amanda on Friday and their was a 3rd party witness that can make a statement if the insurance has any questions. Its always a sticky situation in a parking lot

That's pretty weird. In NJ if there is an accident anywhere the Police can make a report. It's needed for any insurance claims.

because murder and an auto accident are two tottaly different things. you may even say that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum!
Edit - the cops are allowed to come if they are called onto the property, but they do not have jurisdiction where they can come and go as they please

Also, I did call the police they were just to busy to come out, which is too bad because I would have liked to have had the blame placed then. I went to the insurance co. earlier to fill out an accident report so I guess it’s up in the air right now… but I do have a witness so that makes me feel a little better…

Sorry to hear about your accident in the parking lot. In 1976 I had bought a new Grand Prix, 455 4 barrel. It was my first brand new car. I parked away from all other cars in the parking lot.
When I came back to my car it was bounced right over the curb I'd backed up to. The women that hit me fortunately had stayed till I showed up. She had hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and plowed into the back corner of my car. She said she just got her license 3 weeks earlier and I told her I just got my car 3 weeks ago too.
That unfortunately was the first of a few accidents I've had. I hope you get things fixed up like they were before.

Two lil dimples, thats repairable since the metal is not creased or cracked. Did you see my damage from last winter!? Makes that look like scuff! heh, considering the size of the other car, I thought it would be worse!

A little paint and filler and sweat and a little hammerin........ Don't worry, they'll have your car looking like new in no time at all. DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!! Nobody got hurt and that is what counts. Take 'er in and get it fixed so you don't have to look at and think about the damage. I could tell you all stories of the smack'ups I've had with my cars and what buddies have done (2 16 yr old cousins with their father's new Caddies playing chicken comes to mind).

Unfortunately the fender bender happened on private property (a parking lot). Cops are not able to do anything (as far as an accident goes) on private property. Depends on where you are. Police can make crash reports on private property in Illinois, but they are limited to what citations can be written since all the traffic rules don't apply in parking lots. That's how it was explained to me, anyway. Just an FYI, since everyone seems to be crashing or getting crashed into lately.
