Marc,
That's good info but how do I know if the program I download is the good one or bad one? I'm going to reach out to my exbrother-in-law who is in charge of all assembly line maintenance at the Linden, NJ (closing soon) plant. He has worked there for 25 years and can probably get me the info I need.

I'm really not sure about that. It could be that that GM site might say which program is the one for better performance. _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

If your two cars have identical content, you could *try* swapping the PCM's. However, I recall reading in GM's Techlink Online about how this is a bad idea. They mentioned the BCM in that article, something particular to it meant swapping them could damage either the car or the known-good BCM. I don't recall the specifics. You really will need an insider, either at the dealer or elsewhere to work with you. If you do have identical content, you could get your 2003 PCM flashed with the same program that your 2001 has. You can get some info on programs available here: calid.gm.com/ You'll probably need a Tech-II to know what program you currently have in each car, though. Good luck with it, but I doubt this will make either car actually faster, it'll just make part-throttle feel faster due to the faster tip-in. Your '03 should wake up as it breaks in more. Mine felt like it was still getting stronger even by about 20-25,000 miles. For all I know it'll get stronger still (one can hope!) as it nears 30,000.

Thanks 40, I recall the '01 getting stronger with time also. It now has 36,000 miles. I guess I will have to drive that 500 in the winter after all.

Rocketman.....When on the first page of the site that Aurora40 mentioned, type in the VIN of the 2003 and it will show the number of the programming that's in the PCM now. They call that the Calibration ID #. ____________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

Well, that answers that question. The PCMs appear to be quite different. Of course you can't really tell.
Thanks

I see that your 2001 had to have a recalibration done because of that DTC 327 problem. The same had to be done with my 2001. The correction was made before I bought it. _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

Mine used to jump forward a little when you first started it even though it was in park. Is that what that code is for?

I don't know the answer to that question because the reprogramming of mine was done before I bought it, and consequently no problems like that have ever turned up with my 2001. ____________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I take back my comment on the pedal on my dad's car. It is most definitely the 2001 pedal with the insaneo tip-in. I don't know why I don't remember it being that way in the past.
