Not better than the classic rims (which have a certain uniqueness that I really like), but they definetely fit the car. Love the offset. Chrysler always had nice wheels on their cars. And nothing beats $400 with new tires!! Nice.

Hey B, the link didn't work, but I figured out which auction you were talking about. Those actually aren't the same though - those are the flat alloy finish (like the stock non-chrome aurora wheels) and the ones I bought are the shiny aluminum finish. It still a fairly decent deal even though the tires only have 65% tread. Oh yeah, those are in florida too, the shipping would be ridiculous. Thankfully, the ones I bought were local, and I just picked them up. If you like the style and when you have the cash, keep your eyes open on eBay. Becuase the 300Cs are so popular here in SoCal, you can probably find an even nicer set just as cheap... maybe even chrome ;D
BTW - I got your PM and sent you my addy, so I'll see you on Saturday for the rims.

The wheels look nice, nice find Shawn.
I do like the stock Classic wheels for the Aurora, but I think if they were bigger they would of looked better, I wonder if any one would jump on a set of stock Aurora wheels that were 20 inches?

For $400 bux, you cant complain, however the Aurora is to curvy for such straight styled rims, maybe maybe my bias of hatred towards the new LX body style that Chrysler is jamming down our throats sours my taste. But, hey, if you like em, thats all that matters! Enjoy the new rims and rubber  |

Hey JimW, you read my mind!! At first, I was concerned about the juxtaposition of the linear styles but, once the wheels were on, it didn't bother me. As for the tires, bufo, they're the self sealing conti-touring tires (I believe made by Continental). Unfortunately, they're 65 series, a bit beefier that the OE Aurora 60s. Add that to the already increased wheel size of 17" vs the OE Aurora 16", and all my speedomenter and DIC readings are now thrown off. However, I did read in a past post that the GM dealer can reprogram the ECU w/ the TechII and calibrate it to the new tire size, so I'm going to look into that. Thanks again for all the kind words all - I just love having something different (kinda why I picked the Aurora in the first place!).

Hey Shawn, I regret to inform you that TechII only applies to GM vehicles built after 2000. Pre 2000 cars cannot have their PCM reprogrammed, at least not in the same manner as TechII cars.
What you have done by increasing the tire height is lenghten your rolling distance. The PCM, tranny (gearing ratio) is all programmed by that set rolling distance (based on 27.1" tire height), there will be extra strain placed on the transmission, but going up 5 points shouldnt affect it to much.
btw, what is the overall tire height for those tires? If its within 10% of 27.1", you should be just fine.

Well, that sucks about the TechII. As for the overall height - The tires are 215/65-17s so, if my calcs are correct, the overall height is 28". That's far less than your aforementioned 10% difference, but the speedo and MPG figures are definitely askew. I don't get it, but that's life I guess. If the speedo was mechanical, I could have it re-geared like I did on my Suburban to accomodate the 35" tires, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the Aurora's speedo is electronic. Oh well.

Actually "TECH II" began in all vehicles in 1996: The California Air Resource Board (CARB) requires that, by model year 1996, all vehicles sold in California (under 8500 GVWR) contain a certain minimum “On-Board Diagnostic” capability to diagnose emissions-related failures of the engine control system. These diagnostic requirements have been designated as OBD II (On-Board Diagnostics, Phase II) with a goal of monitoring “all of the emissions-related components on-board the vehicle for proper operation.” I believe this applies to all US made vehicles for 1996. Very nice! Didn't think they would look that nice on the Aurora. Personally, I think they fit your car better than they do the actual 300C. By far the best rims I've seen on the 300 are the 18" Touring (debuted on the AWD model, now available on non-Hemi C versions).  |

you guys dont like the new 300's? man i love them. they have a huge presence on the road. they stand out big time. so does the Dodge Magnum. same car except ones a station wagon. but have you seen them in the movie The Island? the cop cars were 300's. sooo sweet.

Besides, I get bored with things pretty quickly, so I'll probably go for some different wheels in a few months anyway. In fact, maybe sooner - I really like these ones on eBay right now...
