It started off nice, but went downhill really fast It is sad to see an Aurora in the salvage yard but it is better than just putting them in the crusher

I've waited so long to get my Aurora...now, I am utterly in love. Best car I've ever owned - and the prettiest. I see several Auroras in my area. It is a relatively affluent area. Most I see are classics, but I see the occasional 2nd Gen too, usually on the way home from work. I'll get some pics if I'm afforded the opportunity.

Thanks for reviving a good ol' thread 95mushroom! That was a nice looking Classic you caught a pic of. Man, I can't stand those portholes. The owner of this Classic bought it new, and it now has 100,000 miles on it. He said his wife didn't like it. Then he left it with the dealer and they had the top put on, and after that she liked it. He asked me what I thought it was worth, because he was considering selling it. I told him at least $4000. Intrigue in the front, Aurora in the rear view mirror. The owner of this Classic was an older cheery grandma. I talked to her a couple weeks ago to help her with some parts. Real nice lady. My Autobahn is the one on the right. When my wife walked out of the store, she did attempt to enter the incorrect Aurora. I sat back and enjoyed the show. I can't prove it, but I think this is my Black '99 a year before I bought it. My Black one has a 2nd Gen "Aurora" on the back with connected letters. To me these almost look connected. And it has a temp tag. I know the guy bought it from car-mart about a year ago and then it got repossessed.

Thanks for reviving a good ol' thread 95mushroom! That was a nice looking Classic you caught a pic of. Man, I can't stand those portholes. Sure thing! Noobs like Rob were one of the reasons I wanted to. ;D The thing with the portholes, for me, is that people don't have the slightest half fart of an idea what they mean, and are just adding them because someone else has them. A little bit of common knowledge would tell you your Aurora needs to have 8 ports, 4 per side, not 3, tool........ (Rant over)

they're just to let air in aren't they? so technically they could have any number of them. the car makers just decided to do them 6 hole for 6 cyl and 8 for 8.

No. They were originally exhaust ports on a Buick concept in 1949. They made it to production, though as nonfunctional ornamentation. They appeared sporadically in models since. Buick brought the design back in 2003 on the Park Avenue Ultra, and continued on the Lucerne as purely non-functional, however yes, the number of portholes as always represented the number of cylinders. No other automaker besides Buick as multiple portholes. Cadillac, BMW, Jaguar, etc, feature one large fender vent. The problem with these stupid ass kits is that they're just emblems you stick on. The only reason that Aurora had 6 is that was the number of ports in the kit he bought at Autozone. He has no idea what they mean, he just saw some other tool's car with them on, and bough the kit. The absolute worst I've seen was an Envoy had them on the rear fender, just above the wheel. Horrible doesn't begin to describe it.

Yes it is! The owner of the Classic told me they stopped making Auroras in '99. So I pointed at it and said no they didn't, this is the 2nd edition right here. To bad I was driving my van or there could have been a 3rd in the pic.

I realize it's not an Aurora, but an excellent Olds none the less. Took a road trip this past weekend to visit relatives in Cincy and came across this beautiful '69 442 convertible with spoiler. Took the pics with cellphone. Looks to be about the same shade of purple as xjsman's Aurora. Sorry dude, couldn't resist. ;D

Didn't get a pic but I spotted a white 2nd gen V6 with chromies and tan interior in the hospital parking garage the other day. I left him them a note about ACNA so we might possibly see him/her around some time.
Also saw a Black classic with IMMACULATE chromes that were gleaming in the 80* weather yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous looking car.
