Hahaha Gina was too quick for me She said it right, though... the NJ ACNA 2006 Meet was awesome. Couldn't have asked for nicer weather, either. The members there were me (Christine AKA Blondie), Gina (AKA RocketV8), Steve (NYSteve), Dan (Letitroll98), Chris (unirok), Vojtazbrna (I'd butcher your name if I spelled it out, so sorry ), Glenn (GlennS87), and Bob (Aurora40). Me, Gina, Steve, Dan, and Chris all met at the Mom's Diner right off the NJ Turnpike in Central Jerz.. I actually passed Steve on the Turnpike on the way there ... we met there, compared cars, got to know each other, and took a lot of pictures. For the sake of the people with dial-up, Imma put some of the better ones up here on the site, and include a link to a PhotoBucket photo album of the 40 or so pictures I took with my camera. Everyone took a ton so maybe we should do the same as well? Here's the link to the album but don't spoil it for yourself... read the story below!... s87.photobucket.com/albums/k154/blondieAurora/ACNA_NJ_Meet_2006/Anyway, here are some more pictures from the meet at the diner (which was supposed to be just a place to meet to drive together to Raceway Park...) This one I persuaded a man to take for us, little did I realize he was walking with a bad limp and I felt really bad for asking him but he was very gracious and said, "Oh, is this a club meeting? It's a shame they stopped making these cars, huh?" That guy said it all right. He should be a complimentary member. We then went inside the diner for what was supposed to be a quick pit stop (pardon the pun) but then someone suggested we grab a bit to eat. So we did. That was probably not the brightest idea because at that point, Vojtazbrna (don't know how to spell your actual name so I'll just go with the handle) called me up to say he was at Raceway. We didn't think we'd spend so much time at the diner chit-chatting ...it was a lot of fun but poor planning Then, on the way, we had to go to the bank to get money for admission to Raceway... Here is Steve getting out of his car to the drive-thru ATM bc he didn't pull close enough and I thought it was funny.. Unfortunately, Chris' DIC started blowing up saying Oil Pressure Low on the way from the diner to the bank, so this is him filling her up... At Raceway, there was a big Corvette show, that actually Glenn and Bob were part of... we saw a lot on the road, and this was sitting in the parking lot so i took a picture of that After that and a gas stop, we're on the road! Gina had to go home, so this is Dan, Chris, Steve, and me in a line, which I thought was cool: At this point, Vojtazbrna and I spoke on the phone, he had been waiting for a long time and he really had to get going so unfortunately we were almost there but he had to go! I feel really bad and sincerely apologize... Bob also had to go too, but we saw him driving past us, so we honked and waved and he waved back... your car is beautiful by the way, Bob, from the flash of red I saw Anyway, so once we got there, I took a picture of the Rained Out sign because it made me sad. Luckily, though, Glenn was still there, with his wife and son So we got a hold of them and they came to see us too. Here's the first sighting After more chatting and looking at each others' cars, we went for the photo shoot: Me, Chris, Glenn, Dan, and Steve... That's it! Had a fun time 'racing' Steve on the way back, albeit briefly, on 287. It was a shame not all eight of us met at once, but it was great meeting all of you. I had a wonderful time and look forward to the next one! Christine

Haha it wasn't my fault, the ATM pull in was wierd! And I wasn't totally "racing", because if i was i would kicked your butt! It was definitely a lot of fun though. Driving 430 miles by myself wasn't so much fun, but it was worth it!

Hey all, I took a nap when I got home so I'm last to post. It was absolutely fabulous, except the part where we dissed VJ, Bob and Glenn by hanging around Mom's Diner forever. In our defense the company was so wonderful and everyone so nice, and yet so different, that the time just flew by. Deepest apologies to those we may have offended, it wasn't intentional. (If it was intentional, I'd have been at a bar) We did get to meet Glenn and his lovely wife and son. Glenn, your wife is gorgeous and your son was unbelievably well behaved even when so hot and tired, you must be proud of them. I'll try to post some different pics. We meet at last! Mom's was so neat and easy to find we should have had the meet there (well, so ok, we sorta did). We mill around awkwardly and start checking out each other's cars. "No, no, can't you see that's a Evaporative lost-foam pattern casting, not a Shell Mold Casting." Christine checks out Steve's pipes. Ok, Ok, Steve did have the nicest shine of all on his tailpipes, great job Steve. RocketV8 and her Rocket Aurora, awesome wood trim addition to the interior, looks great. The lovely blondie, without whom this meet likely would have fizzled, and her Jet Black cruiser. NYSteve and his beautiful light gold, sort of bronze, maybe kinda metallic biege....anyway, everyone really liked the color. Sorry Chris, I messed up with the clicker on your pic and it didn't show up so I have this one. Unirok has the most awesome tint, super dark. That's right Christine, Chris has a Bose head unit with a changer in the trunk. Everyone in unison now...OOOOOwwwww. All of us are immediately going on Ebay and ordering these kewl rocker panel plates Chris has fitted. Ok, where is everybody? Jeez, we're only two (or three) hours late. When we tried to enter the show the attendant looked at me like we were nuts. "That show's over buddy, the next one don't open till 3 o'clock." It was starting to feel like, yes, a RainOut (as the sign says). Glenn arrives, yea! His graciously stopping by even tho he really wanted to leave took the curse off the whole think. Here's Glenn, Chris, Christine, and Steve, but you have to figure out the order yourself. We do some more introductions and more car looking at. Steve and Chris are very interested in seeing a 2nd Gen up close. We line up the cars for that validation set of pics, yes, these were all there. I have more, but they've basicly been posted above. Aurora's are Awesome! Sadly, we end our day and the biggest ACNA meet ever. Wonderful people all.

Other than the pictures of me messing with my hair like an idiot, Dan, your pictures are awesome It's funny, the one of me and my Aurora... I couldn't put my hand on the paint bc it was way too hot, I like how I'm trying to "casually" look like im trying to avoid touching it.. haha.. plus I (and Gina) are squinting so much Oooooh Dan you weren't trying? Man, I am a really slow driver... I remember you waving bye to me after we got on 287 and then poof, gone. I just HAD to catch up but I had to push. Darn NJ traffic. Anyway, still fun. You could have kicked my butt without even trying.. One thing I just can't get over: How bad my paint looks in pictures.. and in person! I used Meguairs (sp? i don't feel like looking it up right now) on my rear left door and it looks great but then I just got lazy. I'll do the rest tomorrow. Plus I have a ton of bug carnage on her nose.. oh well.. the curse of a black car. I said I'll only get black cars from now on, but Dan, you may be right - I might get tired, haha...

It was great hooking up with you guys today. I got a chance to spend a little time with Bob, his wife and VJ at the track. I was glad the rest of you guys got there when you did. If you were 10 minutes later I wouldn't have been there. I love the group photo.
It's really great to hang with people who share some of the same passions that you do. We need to do it again sometime.

I can fix that (well, mostly). Did you notice the same problem on my front bumper? No? The answer is...I'm giving away a secret here, Turtle Wax "Color Wax". It's not around too much anymore, I'm not sure if they still make it, but you buy it in the same color your car is (that would be Black for you Christine) and apply it like any other wax. It only lasts until the next wash, maybe two, but man it works on covering up those stone chips like you can't believe. It comes with a little wax crayon that you can pre treat the worst spots with.

dang, I should have whipped out the camera. I guess between locking my keys in the car (they fell out of my pocket) and my tire crapping out, and me living 230 miles away, I wasn't really thinking about it. But it was neat to see my red aurora with my red corvette parked behind it, and right next to them Glenn's white aurora and white corvette. vojtaz's aurora also would be a great photo. It was immaculate and is a gorgeous color. A slightly champagned grey with a very heavy metallic.

What you all missed: I believe this is Glenn's car lining up in the right lane on the far side: And here is my new personal best. I'm sure the car has much more in it as this was my first pass (and I tapped the limiter twice). But I launched worse on the later passes and then my tire checked out. Still I'm quite happy with it: members.aol.com/corvettezr11990/misc/englishtown.mpgThe numbers: 60' 2.065 1/8 8.336 @ 89.29 1/4 12.706@114.11 This really illustrates the need to get a jump on the street. This guy redlighted the start, and combined with my RT he was .5 seconds faster out of the gate than me. Even at the 1/8th mile point, he's .012 seconds ahead at which point I'm going almost 10mph faster. He did a 13.726@101.13. So if we were on the street and raced to like 60-80mph, he'd have made me look like a chump.

Chris, great pics. Bob, looks very kewl. Once again, glad you both made it home ok. Chris, how did the oil pressure hold up? I looked for you on the way home and was glad I didn't see you on the side of the road. VJ, Glenn and Bob, lunch is on me for the next one. BTW, VJ, I'm sorry and mean no offense, but none of us can pronounce your name, we tried and couldn't do it, so we arbitrarily renamed you VJ, I hope you accept it with affection.

Oil pressure seemed to home up fine. I guess some sort of sensor must be on its way out. I heard no ticking and had not drivability issues at all. yep next meet we will all meet at the same place so there is no confusion especially for the ones coming from so far. I thought I was far away in DE at 100 miles each way but that obviously was not the case.

Yo, Juz representin'. Nort Philly thru and thru.
And to paraphrase a line from the comic Ron White, "Now folks, I'm somewhere between 5'10" and 6'1", depending on what convenience store I just left..."
No one has yet noticed the lack of a rear view mirror in my car. The thing had fallen off (finally, it was loose for a while) a day or two before. So I stopped at Autozone that morning to get the $2 packet of glue. You take the little metal puck out of the mirror assembly and glue that on, wait an hour, then slide the mirror on. The hour wait was the drive up, and I didn't slide on the mirror assembly until we left for the track. Hence, no mirror in that pic.

Hey everybody! I am sorry for not waiting longer. If it was just me then I'd have waited longer, but I had two of my friends with me who were desperately willing to get to the bachelor party we were originally heading to. Glad you guys had a great time, and I'm sure next time I'll join you from the beginning. I really thought you were gonna just meet at the diner and then go straight to the track. We left my house an hour late so I figured I'd meet you at the track. Oh well, we had a great time watching some races, tons of vettes, talking to Bob, Glen and their lovely wifes. The weather was just perfect, too. The pictures you guys took are fabulous! Just love it. Christine and Dan, it was nice meeting you at least over the phone. I'm not mad at all, just wish I was there, too. As for my name, it's Voyta. Vojtazbrna is just my username that I use a lot, but my name is Voyta. Many people have no idea what it is, but once I spell it it makes much more sense. If you wanna call me VJ, I have no problem with that. Lastly, let me just say that I really hope we're gonna get together again and that will be soon. The summer is not over for quite a while and I would really like to meet you all and your Auroras. I know my baby is dying to see her family members lined up next to her:) Whoever is gonna be in charge of organizing the next meet, please let me know;) Good night everyone.
