your supose to have a reflector in the front and back of your car. but who is gonna notice? it would be neat to put a lil white reflector in there. actually taken from the California Vehicle Code: caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cacod...4950-24953.htmlthis is California which usually has the strictest road laws but needless to say im happy. i also have cop friend that has confirmed this for me.

There's no place to order the clear markers from, you pretty much have to do it yourself. I said wait because tommorrow I am going to start with mine and am going to post the instructions for those who care. Rora99 got his clear signals from Javi (another forum member) . Javi did them himself. (Correct me if I'm wrong). As far as the mirror, its an OEM Olds mirror for 97-99 Auroras I got from ebay. The wire hook-ups are identical. My original mirror has gone hay-wire. Plus the compass feature is pretty cool to have as well.

Keep in mind that when you do your clear side markers, install an amber bulb in there, preferly an LED bulb. I had mine with an LED bulb and at night it looked totally awsome. Here are what my side markers used to look like.

Auto Zone, unfortunately, is notorious for poor quality in their electrical parts.

yeah, the led bulbs i picked up from autozone didnt work so i gotta take them back I got my LED bulbs for my side markers at Auto Zone as well, part #194 Hyper Amber bulbs from "Jamstrait" $9.99 plus tax. I got the Hyper Red ones for the rear side markers from the web, Auto Zone did not carry them, trust me they make a difference. Make sure you insert them the right way, if they do not light up, take them out and insert them the other way, one side is polarized, meaning they only light up when plugged in the right way, do that before you take them back to Auto Zone.

Very nice stuff. Does that say if it will not weaken the sidewalls of the tires? I have some other stuff, Black Magic I believe, that started making little cracks in the sidewalls of the car tires and I quit using it.
Also, does the Meguiars that u use attract dust to the tire? THANK YOU!

I don't think it will weaken the side walls, never had a problem with it, still have my Nittos in the garage and they look perfect. I like this product because it actually last longer than what's out there, even if it rains.
I think all products will attract dust, I really could not notice it on the McGuiar's product.

No go as far as the clear side markers. I guess my 11 year old marker are just to brittle now. First I tried baking them which is not a good idea. I even made a hanger for the marker to sit up on, so it wouldn't get damaged but the mounting tabs get soft and deformed. I then tried a heat gun which pretty much turned the softer gray plastic into putty and was not able to heat the glue up enough before the gray plastic got too soft. I then had to made new mounting tabs for it out of some scrap sheetmetal we had. I only messed with the driver's side and I got it back in there okay.
I think it has mostly to do with the age of the plastic and the constant heating/cooling it's exposed too. Javi's was 4 years newer then mine. I think maybe if I order some new ones they'll be tougher and be able to endure the procedure.
Oh well. Maybe another day. It's a free mod (as long as you don't break anything), so I'm not totally pissed.

oh ok so you are melting the yellow part of the side marker?

|
Post by 95mushroom on Aug 9, 2005 16:54:39 GMT -6
No, there's a gray plastic that the clear lens and yellow reflector mount on the backside of the marker. Its a softer plastic than the lens.

how does the side marker come out? does it remove from the outside?

Post by Mr. Javi on Aug 10, 2005 9:35:23 GMT -6
The side marker has to be taken apart from the inside part, then it has a yellow reflector on the inside which you pop out then seal it back together. The challenging part is taken them apart.
