I started installing the HID on my Aurora at around 7 PM tonight, and finished at 10 PM. It wasn't too bad of an installation, just tedious! I did lose one bolt however that holds the headlight mount to the frame of the car, sot he driver's side headlamp "bounces" slightly over bumps, I'll have to find that bolt somehow I guess. First things first, Cherry2002 really wasn't exaggerating when he said it took a LONG time to remove the headlamp mount. That is what took me the longest by far. It took me an hour JUST to remove that mount. Here's both headlights removed, with the mount still attached. This is the headlamp mount removed. The cable for the hood release runs through it, so you cannot remove it totally. Here's the location I mounted the driver's side ballast/igniter. Before: and now after: Passenger side ballast/igniter: I ran the power wire for the driver's side along the radiator support and zip tied the wire there. It was the most convenient route that I could find. The connection to the main fuse panel under the hood: and now for the lights in action... Notice the cut-off beam. There is a slight glare above the cut-off because these projectors are made for Halogen bulbs, not HID, although the glare is NOT bad at all. side cut-off pattern. These are ALL pictures of the low-beams only. HIGH beams (high + lows) All in all, I am HIGHLY impressed with the 4,300k kit from www.xenondepot.com With the Aurora projectors, the light is even across the road and there is minimal glare for a "kit." I drove around for around half an hour and did not get flashed at all, so I don't think they're blinding anyone, yet the road is lit up so much better, it's unbelievable! It's like having your high-beams on all the time, but they don't shine quite as high, or as far. It's just amazing. and now a video. It starts off with only the fog lights on, then the low beams are switched on, then I flick the high-beams on for a few seconds, then back off again. For some reason on the video, the camera interpreted the BLUE of the lights when they're turned on with GREEN.lol. I assure you, they're not green when they're turned on, but a light blue, then they turn to an intense white a few seconds later.

Nice! They look great. I'll doing something similar to the STS. Have you gone in front the lights yourself? Maybe have some one w/you drive by your car with the lights on to see.

WOW!!!! Great job Custom!!! They look great, and sweet job on the install too! I know it was a pain, but it will be worth it. You won't have to worry about water or anything else getting up under there. You'd have to go through a 2 foot puddle for anything to sneak up underneath there. The engine compartment is very tight in there, so this seemed to be the only logical place I could think of to mount 'em. They look awesome! nice

Wow! Great job on the HID's!
I can certainly see a benefit to them, if I didn't live in the city. If I was living out of the city I would definately get them!

Looks good. Where exactly did you connect it to power? That's the bolt where you hook up the jumper cable, right? Red goes to the bolt, and black goes somewhere else? And that's just one power connection - does one ballast go into the other, and the other goes into the power? Still awaiting my kit in the mail... I'll post with results in awhile

Cool install! Your creativeness and bravery in custom Aurora mods continues to amaze me. I added this thread to the maintenance sticky in the Electrical section.

Thanks, but all credit should go to Cheery2002 for being the first to do this to the 2nd gen Aurora. He gave me the idea of where to mount the hardware.

Nah man, it's all you, you took the time to do pictures and a write-up. Unfortunately I've had too much going on that I haven't had time to take pictures and stuff while I've done a lot of my car work. Regardless, great job

Nice work on the HID's Custom. Gotta love them, with your factory projectors they seem to hold up just right, you even have a nice cut off pattern. Thumbs up.

Great write up and great install! It is worth after all those silverstars. I too had silverstar issues and I wish I would have seen the light (pun intended) earlier.

Javi, ive got a pair on mine and to be honest i don't really like them on our highways up here but their fine in the city. Its great for looks however but for actual use its so so you have to have your lights put at the right spot or esle their crap highway wise, just my opinion on them.

Why does removing the headlight mount take a long time

It doesn't. It takes me <1 minute to remove the headlights. efeezyismeezy, It looks like your headlights are aimed up WAY too high.

yes it also took me about 2 mins to remove the headlight. i did not mount the ballasts like everyone else did. i kinda ghetto put them on the side of the air box and the other i forgot where but there stable and tight. the ebay ones are holding up great and have had no issues.

I doesn't. It takes me <1 minute to remove the headlights. I think this is something bigger than just popping the bulbs in and out! lol.

I think this is something bigger than just popping the bulbs in and out! lol. Its only 2 bolts, and a ball-mount that hold the entire headlamp assembly in.

The part that takes a long time isn't removing the headlight, but rather the mount that the headlight bolts to. It runs from one side of the car to the other.
