The lighting control module from factory will remove ground from the fog relay coil killing the fog lamps when high beam are activated. This is annoying for many reasons especially if you are running HID ballast in your fogs(not recommending). To keep the fog lamps on with high beams is simple in both the Classic and 2G. Classic: For the Classic simply permanently ground the Dark Green/White(B7 or PIN 85 on relay) to chassis. You can do this at the fuse block or under the dash. Under the dash you will cut or depin PIN A4 on connector C1 from lighting control module. Cap off LCM side and ground the Dark Green/White wire under the dash. This is also err illegal to an extent. It's DOT regulation to kill fogs with highs, but I digress. I'm just not responsible for your modding. 2G:DIM and IPM must both be bypassed. The fog switch then directly provides the ground to the front fog relay. I deleted the 2G stuff as it has not been confirmed. 2G Fogs on with Highs CONFIRMED!!Procedure: De-pin or snip C9 (orange) wire from pink 32-way IPM (C1) connector. De-pin or snip A7 (dk grn/wht) wire from grey 24-way DIM (C3) connector. Run a jumper wire between these two wires behind the dash. Zip tie jumper wire under dash to make it look nice and neat. Done. *If you de-pin you can always put it back. If you snip the wires and leave the pins in the connector you will have to reattach wires together if you ever want to change it back. About two inches from each pin I spliced in a short wire with a quick connect on each of the IPM and DIM wires. Quick connect on each end of the jumper wire. IPM module is located under the ignition cylinder (drivers side) and DIM module is located under the glove compartment (passenger side).

Sall,
Looking at the 2G diagram, if you ground the drk grn / wht for the front, or the yel for the rear fog lights, they will be on anytime the ign is in run or crank.

Why is it illegal for fogs and highs to be on at same time?

I only hastily looked at the 2G setup this morning. 2G are a bit smarter. I will look and see if there is a way. Don't cutting anything yet Andrew! Paul, I have no idea. It's a 6 forward lamp rule.

There can't be more than 4 bright lights on at one time and the total brightness is limited by law so as to not blind approaching drivers or drivers you are approaching from behind. I personally find it rude for someone to have the fog lights on all the time. This is one of my pet peeves. At night it's almost like looking into bright lights. It's very annoying when a vehicle is coming up from behind on the highway at night. If it takes a long time for them to catch up and pass, if they ever do, it's especially annoying. Tall trucks are the worst due to the height of the fog lights. It's like them having on the high beams and makes the rear view mirrors useless. I normally redirect the mirrors so the lights are not in my eyes which means I can't easily see what's happening behind. Personally, I suggest you delete this post since it's not legal and may contribute to less than safe driving conditions for others.

Cosidering the fog lamps affect the area 75-100 feet (ish) in front of the vehicle, I'm really not worried about who happens to see my car while they're on. If my fog lamps are bothering someone, they're either laying on the ground directly in front of my vehicle (in which case, I'd hope they'd have other things to be worried about than my fog lights in their eyes ), or my fog lamps are aimed REALLY poorly (...which mine are NOT). BTW, my fog lamps have been set to "on" since I've owned the vehicle...and will continue to be.

suggest you delete this post since it's not legal and may contribute to less than safe driving conditions for others. Many many modifications found on the forum are illegal. It's your discretion to do them or not. This mod only keeps fogs on when using high beams if fogs already active. Fair warning was/has been issued. One must still show a certain courtesy to other drivers on the road.

I don't think I've ever been annoyed or thought any type of fog light was too bright while driving.

I don't think I've ever been annoyed or thought any type of fog light was too bright while driving. Grand prixs and Ford trucks with the fogs on are extremely bright! They dont even put any useable light on the road people just think they look cool!

Shine on!!! I ride around with my fog lamps on during the day, and night!! Nice mod Sall. So, you always ride around with park lamps on? That's on my list of things to do. Instead running the fog switch only hot with park lamps on I want to make it always hot/hot in run only. So, fogs can be independently turned on. It's not a big deal to me now though.

i always ride with my fog lamps on it makes the car look good too me i just like the way they positioned the lights and i've never know anybody fog lamps to be brighter then the headlights i know mine are not anyway but having the fogs mean i dont have to ever use the bright unless i really wanted too cause i only used mines like once or twice other then that i wish this was able to get those angel eyes head lights

Sure you can have angel eyes. Just get the confidence to open up your lamps and install. TRS has already been through three iterations of COB angel eyes and although they are getting better still many failures. TBH though the LEDs bake in an enclosed housing and will all fail eventually because of heat from halogen/HID light source when mounted around a projector. Also take for example the yellow phosphor on top of blue LEDs to make the output white. This phosphor coating will degrade with sunlight over time. I don't think they suite our cars very well but that's only my opinion.
Anyways, this is just a thread about a simple mod to keep fog lamps on with highs. Is it necessary? No. Does it harm anything? No. Extended run time will kill your vision distance though. Too much foreground lighting. One shouldn't be using high beams around other traffic anyways except for flash-to-pass. With properly aimed fogs there is nothing wrong with running them at night either. Trucks are a different story.

Soooooooo.. the procedure to keep fogs on when you turn highs on (for 2g aurora) is...... permanently ground Green/white at front and yellow at back? I only ask because my buddy gave me a ?patch cord? And told me to hook it up to battery or active 12v wire from toggle/switch.

You will have to independently wire the fogs if you want this 'mod'.

stupid question, but when you say wire them independently, do you mean find the wire for the fogs on the toggle switch and cut/connect to that? .... i assume i should be looking for this wire under the dash....

Both good movies too I will be doing this tomorrow if it doesn't rain; no garage to work in Can I leave all wires the way they are/connected, and just use 2 t-taps to splice into orange and dark green/white wires and a jumper wire to connect to connect them together? Or do the wires have to be disconnected for this to work?
