Because it WAS a pacecar maybe?........ Ahh...cause most pace cars I have seen have the race and date etc. listed on the side. Then again those cars paced indy 500 races...

Maybe we can get Tony to tell everyone more about the car (for those that dont know much about it)... Im sure people are looking up for other pace cars and are coming up with this design instead....

Nice...man you guys really like taking pics of that Quasi pace car lol No offence just wonder why someone would do that to such a nice car. Oh no, trust me, its a very real pace car. I have owned 4 Auroras. What a wonderful car. We have owned a 1996, '97, '99. My most recent and favorite Aurora is the most unusual - The 2001 IRL Pace Car - this was driven by Johnny Rutherford during the 2001 Indy Racing Season. Yes, the Indy 500 was paced by an '01 Bravada, yet this car had the pace car Duty for the remainder of the season. This was the car that handed off the Baton of pacing IRL races to the Chevy Corvette at the end of the season in Texas late in 2001. My wife and I were at the Chicagoland Motor Speedway, Joliet, IL race on Sept 2, 2001. Country Singer Jodi Messina rode around the track with Johnny prior to the race. She had given a concert just prior to the race at Joliet. It has been in the "Journey With Olds", OCA club magazine, too. If anyone has more info or Pictures, please forward, thanks. I am missing the history of this car from Oct 6, 2001 to Labor Day, 2005 when I acquired the car from F.C.Kerbeck of Palmyra, NJ, via a Barrett Jackson Auction. Also any other Race day pics will be accepted for the 2001 race season.

Oh My God, Yes it was used as a Pace Car, and yes it was used in Chicago amongst other locations. The car is definitely NO clone. It has the C6 exhaust, it is lowered, full roll cage, Front seat racing harness and an Emission Exempt Tag in the engine bay and from the brief time I drove it, the car has been programmed for performance. No they were not dated for every race they paced.

I would def look for a pace model over say a final 500 if i could find one. C6 exhaust and roll cage but cant see that in nay pics I have found.

Tony has had his car on here for many years and now you question it. This car has nothing to do with Final 500's so why would you even bring it up? I suppose that you next would question the Alero IRL Pace Car at the REO Museum in Lansing Michigan next, oh wait that is News to you. You may call me Sir but don't call me old, I am nothing close to old and you are not that far behind me.

The IRL pacer has been the highlight of the Midwest Meet since 09. It is a beautiful sounding automobile and is an awesome addition to the forum. Unirok I am going to assume your questions were sincere questions, so in your defense you have not seen, or heard, or driven the pacer like a few of us privileged members. And I don't recall any interior shots being posted, So it is fair for you to ask a few questions. As to why that pace car is different then all of the others is beyond me. I don't know if this proves that its a pacer or not but it has this awesome button in the ashtray that turns on the cars strobe lights. I've never seen so many flashing lights.
