Very curious........does anyone have exhaust clips of there Aurora which I can listen to? I am planning on replacing the y-pipe with a 2 1/2in inlet and outlet with two Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, keeping the cat and resonator stock and keeping the stock tips. I am looking for a slight increase in sound with low interior resonence but I dont want it to sound as loud as a 5.0 or camaro. I'm just looking for a nice 10-15 horse increase and a slight rumble. By the way.... I replaced my airfilter with a AMSOIL highflow foam filter and removed the resonator on my intake......sweet engine roar and a good boost on the ol' butt dyno!!! Any input on muffler brands would be appreciated as well! Thanks, Kyle

Thank you very much!!! All of you exhausts sound sweet..... Jim, yours kinda reminds me of the Flowmaster that was on my Bonnie except deeper! ;D I was also wondering about leaving the stock exhaust completely and removing the resonator with a straight pipe and a high flow cat to alow a little more flow and sound without a high price.........any suggestions? Thanks!!!

I like Jims exhaust. Gives it a sexy sound. Mine sounds more like a racecar with the way it pops, although i do like it, i want to get the y-pipe too and high flow cats. I still havent replaced my cats even though the SES light is on

Sweet! What is everyones opinion on horsepower increase with just a stock cat, stock resonator, stock y-pipe with the stock 2" piping with aftermarket mufflers with 2" outlets..... what will the increase in power be including the modded airbox? Thanks in advance!!!

5-7 I bet. 10-15 with a proper cat back exhaust.

Jim do you expect 10-15 horses on your Rora with your airbox and catback? It sucks i cant even mod my airbox on my 95. Oh well, that wont stop me from going fast. Jim what would you say I gained with the Dynomax mufflers and resonators taken off if anything?? 0?

Yes, with a proper Catback exhaust and gutted intake with an upgraded filter, I believe 10 to 15HP is possible. I havent dynoed yet, but I wouldnt be supised if I am running nearing 265-270bhp.
Your set up is giving you 8 to 10 extra HP, if not a lil more.
A gutted intake with K&N should give you 3HP minimum.
I also believe I have recovered lost HP due to age with my new grounding kit...but thats another story.

those exhaust clips sound great Jim. Definately sounds great. I've always wondered what borla might sound like on the N* too. On the riv the Borla sounded great. (not as good as the northstar though obviously.)

what will the increase in power be including the modded airbox? Thanks in advance!!! I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine regarding the horsepower increase. I'd done some calculations using my two 1/4 mile runs and the temperatures to estimate the horsepower for each run. There are clearly some fuzzy areas and horsepower calculators based on trap speed are just estimations based on known data points, etc. If anyone is that interested, let me know and I'll start a new post. It's a lot of fuzzy number crunching, though.

Why yes. Lets dispell the myth and get some numbers behind this modification.

here is a short 0-60 clip i did today. it wasnt very good though, cause i had a bunch of crap in the back seat and a 40 pound box in the trunk. btw, it was in 1st gear. would 2nd be better? whenever i floor it in 2nd, it will shift hard.. www.sitaliano.com/0-60.MPG

Is Jims a single inlet, duel outlet? Or the stock configuration???

Is Jims a single inlet, duel outlet? Or the stock configuration??? Stock configuration. The only thing that is modified is the high flow cat, and increased pipe diameter from the T or Y split (whatever) back.

What ever happened to keeping the rpm's under 2500? 2nd would be better, but either way it's not the best thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. ;D ;D

Well, my plans have changed! I bought a 9in K&N cone with a 4in diameter flange, wicked! And instead of doing the exhaust tips I am going to keep my stock ones and am going to go with twin Borla XR-1 stainless race mufflers.......should sound sweet! Thanks everyone for all of your help.........just one last question. What do you think I will gain power wise with this huge induction and a VERY open Borla exhaust? ? Thanks!

15-20 I bet, high flow cat back will ensure 20HP with the intake.
What do others say?

jim did yours feel more powerful right off the bat or was it only at high RPM's with your intake and catback? Was it more responsive? I dont really notice anything until it gets higher in RPM's then i can feel a difference over stock. Im not sure if it would make a difference in the quarter mile or not however

The exhaust gave me more grunt off the line, it helped restore some of the low end torque that seemed to be lacking. Bear in mind its not pushrod torque but it really helped. The high flow cat made a big difference as well.
As for the intake, I cant really say how much its done, since the exhaust was done first , however I love the whine I get from it at 4500+ RPM.
Theres no science behind this..just my day to day experience with my car.

how much did you pay for the high flow cats? There is 3 of them on this car correct? I havent replaced my stockers yet, cause that SES idiot light comes on and goes out. Whenever its on, i go to get codes read and it goes off.
