Hmm, I hope the Auto-Rx people thought of this (now that I put it in my 4.0 about 1800 miles ago)... I'll admit I didn't research the product and mostly took Letitroll's word on its quality. Maybe he can offer some information.

The 2001 owner's manual is very brief on this topic. On page 6-19 it says, "Don't add anything to your oil". _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I dont think Auto-RX will do anything harmful. I too, took letitrolls word for it and dumped iti n about 1000 miles ago. The motor is running a lot smoother right now, i can tell. Its not making the noises it used to when idling either.

Wouldnt it say somewhere

This article is refering to Slick50 and the like that contain PTFE's, which I have strongly advised against using. Quaker State has settled numerous law suits regard false advertizing and damage claims. There are no zinc or phosphates listed in the spec sheet for Auto-Rx, only esters and lanolins.
Auto-Rx does not improve your oil or make it "slicker". It's not an additive, it's a cleaner that needs to be purged from the system. Nothing is left on the cylinder walls, rings, or bearings. There would be no reason to say "safe for aluminium engines" because there are no abrasive components in it. However if you feel at all uncomfortable with the product, please don't hesitate not to use it.
