The truth is coming out in this article. "Due to lack of investment." Yup, just like Olds. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,151308,00.html

Good article. I for one hate to see American automakers losing ground to the foreign competition. We should be embarrassed as Americans that somebody can and has been doing this better than us. Why can't somebody at these automakers grab this thing by the horns and run these companies the way they should be run? Reopen contracts with the unions and lay all this stuff on the line. My company has done this with all of our unions as well as management to steer a profitable course. These people are hired to manage and if they can't do it, get somebody who can. How about a novel idea like getting rid of all the rebates and cheap financing gimmicks and go to a 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty? I think this is more valuable in the long run. A $2500 rebate that never came out of my pocket anyway pales in comparison to a $3000 repair bill on a transmission on the 37th month or 1 mile over 36000. Sorry to rant, but it just pisses me off we can't seem to do better than the competition.

So what we are seeing is a bunch of fat cat managers leeching off of the system for temporary personal gain and the ultimate demise of the corporation itself?

....the ultimate demise of the corporation itself? I don't think that GM will go out of business. What I do think will happen to GM is that 15 or 20 years down the road GM will still be around, but much smaller than it is now. ________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I love Saab. When I bought the Aurora I nearly bought a 2000 Saab 9-5. Wonderful car - it's got character. When my father bought his car, he also nearly bought a (much more loaded) 2003 9-5 (a bit more wonderful edit: however... I do notice this trend of "almost" - which has really hurt Saab a lot. Many people like their cars, but there always seems to be a better alternative, and many can't substantiate their high price point. I wonder if GM hurting this or improving this... their SUV is certain to be a failure.. so perhaps I'll go with hurting
