A man ran out of his good fortunes after he was caught robbing his second gas station in as many days.
The Isabella County Prosecutor’s office issued charges of armed robbery for Robert Hesselink of Mount Pleasant Tuesday for Friday’s robbery of a Speedway service station and convenience store, 1018 E. Pickard St., according to Mike Covarrubias, Mount Pleasant Police public information officer.
Hesselink is accused of using a gun to hold up the gas station. He ran off and was not caught.
Then on another robbery took place Saturday afternoon.
State troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Rolland Center Gas Station, 6993 W. Blanchard Road, according to a police report.
Three suspects left the scene in a Oldsmobile 442 Cutlass vehicle. Mount Pleasant police officer Jeff Thompson pursued a vehicle fitting the description.
The vehicle did not pull over and Thompson chased it until the vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Deerfield Road at Mission Street.
The three suspects fled on foot and were eventually caught. All three also admitted to taking part in the robbery, according to the report.
Hesselink, along with Jeno Donald of Saginaw and Antonio Lopez of Mount Pleasant, were charged with armed robbery and resisting and obstructing police Monday, according to Trooper Don Dutcher.
The weapon was a BB pistol that resembled a semiautomatic pistol.
More charges are pending on Wednesday for all three suspects, including assault with a dangerous vehicle and fleeing and evading police, Dutcher said
