I am going to start work on a Flash intro tonight. When I finish it I will put it on my site for everyone to see and test. I will then put it to a vote. If all goes well I will put it in place. There is no time frame for when I will complete it. I plan on taking my time and making it worthy of the Aurora nameplate and this club.

Auroraforums.com is now registered and working. Currently my service is being updated to my new package. So it is pointed at my site for the time being. I am told it will be corrected in the next 3 hours. Although they also said it was going to take 12 hours before registeration would be completed (it took them 5 hours to register it with the DNS servers).

It all now works correctly. Three hours.... Took them 15 minutes. Gotta love it when something is faster then they say for a change.
@auroraforums.com email addresses are now up for grabs. I suggest using outlook or some similar program if you are planning to use one of these addresses. 1and1's webmail system is not what I would call complete.

Auroraclub.com is now registered and working. Don't forget the 'na' suffix. Auroraclubna.com. Unless you want a site for "A Social Club for Professional Men and Women established in Methuen, MA." Which, incidently is not far from my home.

if www.auroraforums.com and www.auroraclubna.com bring you to here, then yes, it is working. You shouldn't see a difference... that's the point. (if his redirection was not working, we'd be getting a "this page cannot be displayed" everytime you typed in either of those addresses.)

Update: I have a new forum installed and running but it still needs alot of work. I will be inviting staff members to join it and see what they think. Depending on the outcome of this first testing phase I may open it to the public for a public trial. This will be just to see if my server can take the strain. After that it I will put it to a public vote as to which forum will be the forum of the ACNA.
This process will not be rushed. There is no timeframe for when any of this is to be completed. I am going to do everything I can to make sure we don't have another ACAN forum V2.0 on our hands. I am confedent that my site can take whatever we can throw at it but I want to be sure before we are committed to it.

Well, I'm somewhat confused at this point. Are we making a move to some other URL or not? Is this up for discussion? I for one am not interested in making any changes despite Apocalypse's well meaning offer. If this is Mike grabbing an address for possible changes at sometime in the future after proper consideration, hey, I'm all for it, thanks for the offer and the interest. But there are very few features that would be worth losing even a couple of members. Does Aurora40 want to go through redoing all the rankings? What about the existing thread base? I really don't even want to relist my avatar and sig for some possibility of another email address.
I don't mean to denigrate the impressive offer from Apocalypse, perhaps it's a good thing. But forgive me if I've been down this road much too recently.

The URL thing has already happened Dan. Try www.auroraforums.com What Mike has already suggested has been approved and done. As for leaving the proboards site, thats not really up for discussion just yet.

what I would suggest, and it's just that, merely a suggestion, is have a homepage where we can have pictures, techinfo, etc (located at http://www.auroraclub.com). Then the auroraclub's forum will be the proboard's forum. That would give us the best of both worlds. Our own HOMEpage, techinfo, and an already established forum. This way we wouldn't have to worry about bandwidth, or resource issues we had with our other host....

Good question, I've discovered the same problem. I cannot log in if I'm redirected to Proboards using that URL.

Nothing on the forum itself has changed, so I don't see why a different URL would make you lose your settings, or make your browser unable to save your password. It'd be like calling your car "Intrigue" instead of "Aurora." It's a different name, but it's still the same car. Same with this. The name www.auroraforums.com refers to the same website, which is our board. Nothing has changed at all. The name just directs you to here, that is it. EDIT: I've used both URL's and have not had any issues. tyr clearning your cookies and trying it again.

What browsers is everyone using here? That could have a small affect on the issues you're experiencing. First try clearing your cookies and tempory files though.

I'm using the latest IE, and the redirect is working fine on my work PC... my earlier problems were on my laptop, so maybe it is a cookie issue. I'm gonna go ahead and move this to Forum Suggestions, since that's where the discussion is leading. Let's also keep in mind the decision(s) made in this thread not even 5 months ago, when we (who voted) unanimously voted to keep ACNA at Proboards. Food for thought.

The vote was unanimous at the time and I see no reason to change. Although the redirects are now saving passwords with no problems on my puter, the possibility of losing more members with any unexpected changes still worries me. I doubt that we'll be able to maintain a proboards address if we move to another forum host. And I don't see anything that needs to be "fixed" here at present. I don't want a flash intro to my Aurora forums. If you need to find out something about Auroras, just go to Howard's page, it's already up and running. Which brings up another issue brought home long ago by Aurora40. Do we really want to be some giant web based club with a zillion posters asking mainly, like on automotiveforums, how can I fix my car on the cheap, and not contributing anything more. Or should we remain a small community of enthusiasts with a site you have to dig a bit to find. A place that rewards the passionate. Food for thought that I must thank Apocalypse for if nothing else. And to who I have to apologize for any negativity, but we've driven down this road and run out of gas on a cold night.

I think we need to exhibit faith and trust in our Administrator and Moderator. WE do not OWN this forum, we are members of the forum. I think that Jim and Bob do a great job. Keep up the good work.

Well who does own it if we don't? It would be news to me if the contributing members don't have a stake in what goes on. And who said Jim and Bob and the other admins don't do a great job? I and others disagree with Mike's generous proposal of a new forum. I've tried to express this as nicely as I can as no one can fault him for doing extra work gratis. And I'm way too old to have blind faith and trust in anyone, so I will continue to express my opinion as I see fit thank you very much.
