What do you think about having a dropdown menu towards the top of every page so that it's easier to move from subject to subject, rather than having to go back to the main page every time you want to change subjects? By subjects I mean things like, well, like "Forum Suggestions/Questions", "Around the Water Cooler", those.
Does that make sense?

There is a Forum Jump option at the bottom right hand of a thread page, however we are limited to the functions that Proboards has. I dont think they offer a pull down menu option...yet.

Oh wow, never noticed that Forum Jump dropdown. Can there be one identical to it at the top of the thread pages, too?

From what I can see, there's no easy way to add locations of built-in navigation features like the Forum Jump. Proboards is restricted in many ways like that. Aurora40 would know for sure, he's done more with the custom programming (adding Imageshack utility, different skins, etc).

I can take a look. I've been doing more and more with .js, .css, etc lately (in spite of my not being interested in it). If there's not a pre-existing solution, I can try to mess around and come up with one.

Ok... In this forum only now, you should see the jump box at the top and bottom. Does that seem ok? Should it be left-aligned or something?

Haha, awesome! I usually look to the left, so I'd personally have it there, but then again, this is one person's opinion

Nice work A40! Just for formatting purposes, can you put some blank space between the dropdown menu and the "current location" forum link? It'll look a little less crowded that way.

It still looks weird to me, though. Like something should be to the right of it. If it seems ok, I can put it on the rest of the boards.

Well, no one said anything, and I don't care one way or the other. So they are on all pages now. Let the complaints begin!

Everything looks like crap now!!! hehe, just kidding.
Thanks for moving the menu, it's going to be so much easier to navigate around here if I can just get out of my old habits. Good work A40, and good suggestion Blondie.

Ok, a little more javascript tweaking and now you should only see it on the subforums. It seemed dumb to see it on the main page since the whole jumpbox's worth of stuff was the contents of the page. It also showed up in admin pages which seemed a little dumb. :-P

Options are always nice. Thanks for the efforts Bob, just curious though...was the Forum jump at the bottom of the page to cumbersome to access? Its always been there. I'm all for preserving the scroll wheel on our mouses? mice...either way.

Excellent addition! How about adding a quick search bar next to the drop down menu when in the sub-forum? For example, if I'm browsing the Tires forum, I can do a search of the entire Tires forum for Michelin?

For example, if I'm browsing the Tires forum, I can do a search of the entire Tires forum for Michelin? Heheh, geez! What I will do is keep an eye out for that if there's a pre-made solution. But all I can do is change the content of the page after it is delivered. Something like that would be a lot better if it were done in the delivered content. Also, at some point, all of these little scripts executing in your browser to render the final page will probably start to make an impaact in how fast each page click loads.
