Just an idea, whenever I do a search for information on something I always get a bunch of jargon and shorthand. Being a car newbie I have no idea what this stuff means and it is painfully slow to go search each acronym up, and memorize it for future reference. It would be really helpful if someone made a sticky of references to these shorthand/acronyms so newbies like me can just take a glance down the list and figure out what the term means.
for example, it could be an alphabetical list that looks something like this.
XXX-Full name. What it does. Where is it located on the car. Typical symptoms of the part going bad.
FPR- fuel pressure regulator. Regulates fuel pressure. Located under the engine cover, lower right corner held on by clip. Range of symptoms from surging engine, poor idle, and hard starts.
anyone wanna help make one of these?

That's a great idea... you're right in that all us Aurorites are pretty familiar with such parts and abbreviations (like FPR), and can forget that new people are trying to find answers and don't already know what this stuff is. I'd say, newbies unite! ;D You are the best barometer of what terms are confusing and need to be defined. Start posting them in this thread and when we get a good collection, we'll make a sticky or add to an existing one.

I'll start one in this thread and update it as (and if) more suggestions come in.
FPR- Fuel Pressure Regulator. Located under the engine cover, lower right corner held on by clip. Most common symptom is hard starting while engine warm, others include surging engine and poor idle.
WOT - Wide Open Throttle. In other words, "Pedal to the Metal!" An acronym used in describing symptoms when the car is under full acceleration.
Just waiting for more...
