;D
Chrome center caps. I got my 2001 SSEi center caps, with the reflective finish and the hex lug in the center. Looks like its time to customize the center of the lug to cover the wrap around PONTIAC and arrowhead logo.
Black decal with a gold Aurora A should look pretty good.
I'll get some pics once they are on the car.
*excited* bye bye silverflakers...lol

yay. those look sooooooo much better than the 2000 M.Y. center caps. They look like they have a sprocket or something in the center of them... very odd looking. But those, THOSE look great! nice choice. I agree that the Aurora emblem would look awesome in the center though if you could find some way to do it.

I have to find some way to do it...heh. The center portion has a clear plastic protective cover, I just need to find a strong enough adhesive material to print the A on it and have it stick to the cover nicely.

I don't get it... Wasn't the problem that you couldn't get the Aurora logo? I mean, if you just wanted chrome Pontiac center caps, there were ones that went with those wheels...

There are very subtle differences between the 2000 MY 6 spoke rims. 2000 SSEi Not chrome, I took off the cover, and paint my 2000 SSEi caps silverflake, but it didnt come out how I like. In 2001 GM offered a redesigned cap (all chrome) with a simple black center (1.5' diameter) showing the arrowhead. Much easier to modify the 2001 as opposed to the 2000 MY

Gotcha, so you have an Aurora emblem that will fit the new one? Or you need to have one made?

Yeah, those definitely look much better. Did you say you were going to use a black Aurora emblem?

I'm gonna get a chrome decal and cut to suit, then place it over top. Hoping it wont be a challenge to find a decal that can stand up to abuse on a rim. I dont want to see the arrowhead.

I saw an Aurora once that had factory chrome rims and in the middle was the Aurora "A" trademark in Gold. Was that available in a Gold Package or was it custom?

Thats a good question. Ive only ever seen a couple with with logos in the center like that. I think it was a Gold Package option in like 98 or maybe 99. Kind of hard to find.

That had to have been a custom job... the only rim options for Auroras are either brushed aluminum or chrome finish. The gold package didn't really add any decals/markings AFAIK, just changed the chrome lettering and insignias to gold finish.

OOooOooOo I bet that looks good! Gold on Green...good combo!
Today I'm gonna look around some art supply stores to see what I can find to cover up the Ponty arrowhead on my new caps.

I have a 98 Classic with the Gold option - just the regular wheels though - I don't think the "A" was on either type of the classic's wheels as a factory option. I've seen replacement metal "A"'s for sale on ebay though, gold or silver - they must stick pretty good. Thats a good question. Ive only ever seen a couple with with logos in the center like that. I think it was a Gold Package option in like 98 or maybe 99. Kind of hard to find.

Yeah, I've been having computer problems and I don't know what else. All sorted, so I'm back in the land of the living. I'm even going to check my Aurora website to see if all the links work and while I'm at it I'll skim through here to see if there's any interesting procedures I can copy over. It's nice to be back. Howard!! great to see you back and posting! .

Ok! Well, I just finished chrome painting my 01 SSEi caps, the paint looks pretty good actually, not a total mirror finish, but at the same time, doesnt look totally out of place. They are back on the car drying for the day. I'll get some pix when the car is back outside.
Woo hoo...no more silly Pontiac markings on my Aurora....FINALLY
