I thought about the A/C delete but it's an Aurora... I couldn't let her be without cold air. I hate it when she's broken, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Besides if I didn't replace the compressor now then it would be a couple years before I would be able to do it. I'm still unsure if I made the right decision but what's done is done. I really wish I could make it but it just isn't going to happen this year. I'm going to plan ahead for next year though... maybe since we've been in Aurora for the past couple years we could move it down to Springfield for a change? Just a thought. But then it wouldn't be Auroras in Aurora! Haha. Honestly, I'm open to change either way. Doesn't bother me where it's at as long as it's well planned in advance. Maybe you, Randy, Lance, and I could have a little mini meet again sometime this summer. I wouldn't be opposed to making two small road trips to stop down and meet up with you guys.

What time of the summer would work best for you? And what days? I'm pretty busy with summer classes and work, but I could probably do it in later July or early August when my classes are over.

It would have to be during the school year for me, I don't have enough cash at the moment. I'll figure it out and post a new thread when the time comes.

The Aurora, IL location was originally picked (other than the perfect name) because last year at this time we had a lot of Chicago-area members posting regularly. Plus it's a large area that everyone can find. That's not so much the case anymore (Chicago member involvement) so I don't have a problem moving it next year. The meet should be wherever the most members can attend IMO. New thread though, yes.

Just for next year, but let's take care of this meet first. ;D

alright good morning y'all! I'm finally here in asheboro and might I say its beautiful on the drive up?! Anyways we plan on leaving here around the twentieth to get back into springfield, we should be there by the 22nd and than I will be all ready to get the girl shined up and cleaned, and head out the 27th. For anybody thats coming up the I-55 corridor through springfield area, beware there is some construction, not too much but it might cause a half an hour delay. I will probably take 55 all the way up aurora. If at all possible could I get the exact address of the site, that way mandy (my GPS) can get me there safely?

The address is there, although it's unique enough that you'll be lucky if your GPS will get you there. Best to bring along a good ol' map too.

I was curious about this also. As far as I can tell from Mapquest and some of us would appreciate if you could confirm, the entrance to the park is on South Batavia Ave, north of the intersection with Mooseheart Rd. and across from Millview Dr.? In red circle area? Shelter #1 or #2? Never mind. Looked at the aerial view of the map at the park website and that is the entrance. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

If we are going to try and be there by noon I need to head out of springfield by 10 at the latest (and thats doing 80 on the freeway) 9 preferrably but than I dont know how much that will inconvenience you. also there is slight road construction on the 55 corridor. I might also ask mandy too detour me around the toll roads. I can enter 55 right at sherman, so I am thinking that we could meet up at the family video right off of the 55 exit, unless you are taking a different route up? or I can PM you with my # and we can further discuss this. If you havent noticed I like to be as prepared as possible

You shouldn't hit any toll roads coming up I-55. It's free all the way to downtown Chicago, and you can exit off toward Aurora right from the interstate... no other combined freeways needed, which is usually where the tolls come in.

I was wondering if it was toll free. Thanks for that answer though!

Hey all.
I haven't been home much lately but I am back from Iowa and home for 3 days and then leave for Michigan next week.
That picture is indeed the entrance to "Les Arends" preserve. We are in the #1 shelter which is pretty nice. Since everyone should be coming from the South on Rt 31/Batavia Ave, I will have a sign posted about 500 from the entrance of the preserve. I will try and post more signs on the route if time permits. From I-88 it is 3-4 miles to the preserve. I will get more detailed directions posted soon.

i don't have a garmin or tom tom or anything like that and i get lost easily Nice try. Google Maps is a magical invention too. Not to mention an actual ATLAS if anyone still knows what that is. Seriously though, I completely understand the time and money aspect of it for you guys further south. Maybe next year we can plan it a little closer to you all as previously discussed. For me it's 2 hours to Chicago OR St. Louis so I'm good with either one. ;D

I'd quite possibly be up for a missouri meet next year, as long as im staying with my dad in illinois for that weekend.

I think that Randy's place would be most natural place for a meet... we could all camp out and stuff and we wouldn't be short on space. It's four hours away for me, it would be 8 for all you Illinoisans. 5 for Zach, 6 hours for Tyler, 22 hours for Chris. (lol)

I am still having the fall meeting at my house. aura1 I will be expecting you there. I would also be in favor of a meet in St. Louis. Maybe we could call that a National meet since it would be in the middle for a lot more people.

You guys are making such a big to do about the mileage yet has anyone driven 18 hours in one day? Nope didn't think so. Looks like I might be tackling this task on our way back. Hotels are darn expensive. Back to auroras in aurora. I hope that everyone has a safe trip and is able to make the trip trouble free. If not remember um coming up from the South and would be willing to lend a helping hand!

Once drove straight thru(36 hrs with 55mph speed limit ) from El Toro, CA to Cincinnati, OH after working 8 hours to get home for Xmas back in '77. Have gone from Lex, KY to Ft Lauderale, FL and back a couple of times in the last few years. A lot depends on how much you enjoy just driving.

i have driven 26 hours straight, well gas and rest rooms; just not in the aurora. for instance when i went to get lunch today my battery was dead i thought maybe my amp drained it so i popped the trunk and it's the trunk light! it was so hot it exploded when i touched it ! it looks like a fuse, the tube light one. i guess the button by the latch is the problem, though it looks fine. that would bad suck to get stranded hundreds of miles from home! in an aurora of all things! and scotty i am also out of ink lol i could go to the library but i'm full of excuses, the money one not an excuse. a st. louis or kansas city drive i wouldn't even think twice about it. but i agree with collins, Randy just has the perfect set up. campfires loud music we can drink some brewskies whatever, no problems. might even get a front row seat to some drag racing out front ;D or perhaps even a real police chase besides, you all will see more auroras here in one day than you ever have or will again in your life. i mean not even counting Randy's herd. they are everywhere here.

I'm excited for the meet, and I'm also stoked to hear the plans for a fall meet in MO. I think that's a really good idea. Have a summer meet in IL and a MO meet in the fall/early winter. I know we had already talked about having one last year. A biannual thing would be awesome. Let's start working on plans for that right after this one so we have it down pat far in advance. Maybe roara will make that insane drive for the meet! :-P
