Randy will have his meets regardless (it seems), but I'd also like to make keep a "Midwest" meet a little further north though. And not to be a downer, but drinking beer with loud music and drag racing doesn't exactly fit the "family friendly bring your kids along" atmosphere that is nice to have also. Old drivers vs. young drivers I suppose, a point recently mentioned in another thread.

Yes how old drivers drive like crazy mad men! He was talking about it being at an actual track though scotty. Well not the beers. Can we get back to THIS meet though?

Where we have next years meet, I don't really care as long as we have it. We started something last year and need to build on it. The closer it is to Chicago the more people we'll get to the meet. I have no problem driving to a car show. I'm driving 5 hours next week and driving to Pennsylvania in July for the OCA Nat's.
Street Racing should not be part IMO. I am with Scotty on the heavy partying and racing. Maybe the fact that one of my friends was the victim of street racing and influences me to this day, I say take it to the track.

It won't be on the streets. If you guys were to read the Springfield meet thread you would see that this will be at a track.

But, it is all about the Auroras. My 8yr old daughter was at the last meet we had. I don't drink, if someone wants to drink that's ok with me. If they want to get drunk and stupid they can take it somewhere else. And our racing is going to be at the local 1/4 mile track. Hopefully we will have some good video and time slips to show afterwards. Following the next morning with a cruise to Aurora for their annual Chamber of Commerce car show. Here is a link to the thread if you guys want to discuss it there. Check it out, I think it's coming together quite nicely. ;D aurorah.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Local&action=display&thread=12539&page=4

It would be great to have a newbie swing in. Let us know the details on your ride so we can be looking for you. EDIT: Nevermind on the car details, I found your intro thread.

;D Hey Guys & Dolls. I haven't been posting much lately, my apologies. We will be there with 2 Auroras, our 95 Autobahn & the PACE Car. Wouldn't miss this for anything. Who's coordinating the Food stuff? Of course, what would you care for us to bring. The Famous Dad Lad cookies are a possibility, no promises though. What else is needed?

I don't think anyone has coordinated the food. Seems like a few are coming up the night before and camping. I think the 'nut said they have a Woodmans (big supermarket) very nearby. I think we will be cooking out (which reminds me, I still have to check on that Smokey Joe) so it probably makes sense to do a shopping trip for items that could spoil. Nothing like a little food poisoning to ruin a perfectly good picnic

I am trying to find a small grill etc. to have at thr Preserve. I just got back from Lansing, MI an hour ago. I was at the Alero Chapter show & Olds Homecoming show since Thursday. I have some grilling tools etc. I have a smaller Coleman cooler, so if anyone has another you may want to bring it for food and beverages.

I'll have our medium sized Coleman cooler with our camping stuff so I can bring it. The general guideline for food discussed some number of pages ago was that everyone bring enough for themselves (meat + side or dessert) and we can share however we'd like. Typical potluck style. I'm bringing charcoal and lighter fluid too.

It rained the morning of the meet last year, and my Friday cleaning job got all screwed up. But check the photos, the sun came out and we got the cars all cleaned up before photo time!!

Rain shouldn't hurt ya too much if you put a fresh coat of wax on. I planned on bringing some quick detailer and a terry cloth anyway. I'm sure I'll get some bug splats on the trip

I'm not too worried about the rain ruining my wax job, im more worried about it hazing up my chromies......those things are not so much fun to clean up! not too mention I have a fading hood, and roof with a couple scratches from a tree on it. paint peeling off of my sunroof, rock chips on my front bumper, a sagging front bumper. a dirty license plate....oh I've got some work to do but it will be well worth it just too see that pace car!
