Anyone got any ideas on what may be causing a vibration at highway speeds? I've got a 98 Aurora w/autobahn pkg. I've got a vibration between 65-78. Tried rebalancing, remounting, repositioning (rotating to diff wheels) tires, also changed brands. No change. I had the OE Michelins, and tried Dunlop sp sport a2's (which I don't recommend). I have the problem with both sets of tires. Also had alignment checked out. The car's never been recked, no front end damage etc. Are there any TSB's that I should be aware of? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bigal, The following site helped me immensly with the same problem on the same year and model (autobahn): 128.242.141.111/ The site will give you a link to find a local shop in your area using the Hunter GSP 9700 wheel balancer. They claim the unit dynamicaly balances the wheel in several planes at once. Don't ask me how it works, it just does. Hope this helps.

Try to get your tires road forced balanced. I have read that that cured vibrations that other people experienced with this car that was similiar to yours.

I had the exact same problem at the exact same speed with the same year and model car. I had to have my tires balanced several times for the vibration to go away. The super-balancing machine looks like a pretty safe bet to solve the problem. (If only I knew then what I know now!)

I had that same problem, but at lower speeds (i.e. around 65 to 70). I found ou that my rotors where warped. I bought new ones from my local Napa, and no more vibrations. Have you checked your rotors?

Hey Folks, I've got the same problem of vibration on a non-autoban '95 Aurora-again, no wrecks, new shafts, new tires (Yokohama Avid V4S), new front brake job with ceramic pads at 95,000+ miles. It becomes evident at 55, particularly when I get on it with power.

Oh yes vanaurora, please tell us about the Yoko's. We could care less about your stupid vibration problems, but we may be spending big bucks on that exact tire soon, so we need input. Ok, alright, I guess I have to actually be nice to somebody to get feedback (where's my mace?) Anyway, yes, the vibration problem is rampant and seems to a simple fix. 1) Get a dynamic road force balance, not your regular Sears balance. These cars are very sensitive and this is what worked immediately for me. Link: 128.242.141.111/ 2) Some cars are vibrating because of two mechanical problems, warped rotor or worn ty rod ends. These are of course very easy to check at any shop. Ok, problem solved. Now give it up. How do you like the Yokos? And we want continuing reports as they wear, get it? Do as your told and nobody gets hurt.
