I need a favour from you guys and gals. My revs in idle look to be a little high My drive into work is only 3kms, (less then 2 miles) and the engine never really gets upto prime operating temperature. When I get to the office, my car is still idling at about 1000 RPM. I'm gonna test it at lunch today, take the car out and see where I idle at once the engine is fully warmed up. Methinks its an engine temp thing, but just wanted to compare.

at a cold start (50-80 degrees outside) mine idles at around 500-1100... i don't think its anything to worry about
my car had the IAC motor tuned the whole way up when i bought it (temporary fix for the ignition coils), so mine would idle at about 5000-6000 RPM (not a typo) until i touched the brake. as long as your car doesn't feel like its pulling you, i would say you're OK...
does it go down when you press the brakes?

Yeah, I would definitely say its temperature related. I'll try a few things out. I just hope there is nothing wrong with my throttle positioning.

when I start mine to go to work mine idele at about 800 rpm or so. the needle kinda fluctuates, so I am guessing at that number. is the needle fluctuation telling me its time for a plug change?

1,000 at cold start up. It settles at almost exactly 600 rpm within 20 seconds at ambient temp of 80deg. When it's cold outside, it may take a minute or two to rev down. (I'm patient as I like my pistons un-beveled.)

However being late August, winter must soon be upon you up there and perhaps the engine isn't warming above freezing before you make it to work. OK, I'll shut up now.

I concur with the 600 rpms warm. After cleaning the throttle body my sons car holds rock steady at what looks to be 600 rpms at idle.

late post: i had to take my car to my dads work to fix a leak in my tire, and after sitting all night in about 50-70 degree weather, my idle was about 1200.

I do change my oil every 3000 miles (5000kms), you come to learn that I am like a hawk with my Aurora, I know every sound, every squeak, every loose sounding panel, every exhaust note, every belt, everything. I watch my fluid levels, and never let anything run to low. So in a nutshell, I make sure my oil is nice and clear
