I found a 1995 Aurora with just over 98,000 miles on it. I found it on-line at a dealer. Looks to be in very good condition from looking at the picture. I'm going to look at and drive it tomorrow evening. Is there anything I should be concerned with or take extra time/caution to look at when I check it out? Thanks!

You should ask if the recalls are up to date - there's a fuel rail recall on the 95's. Look for oil leaks too - they sometimes happen on an early Aurora. Apart from that do the usual stuff when you're looking at a used car. Make sure evrything works and kick the tires. ;D

Make sure evrything works... And we do mean EVERYTHING... and Auroras have got a lot of gadgets too. Power *everything*, also make sure you can park it somewhere shady or dark and check the interior lighting. Every last interior crevice is backlit in these cars. For a car just under 100k miles, make sure it's had all its recommended part replacements for that mileage benchmark. I believe the oil pan was a specific problem area for leaks in the '95 model year, so have that thoroughly checked as stated by dred98. Good luck, and let us know if you buy it!

Here's a link for TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) and Recalls for all makes, models, years. This link goes to 1995 Aurora. Not all bulletins are defects, but it gives you a place to start looking. www.alldata.com/TSB/43/954330EP.htmlBest of luck

Also ask the dealership to run a Carfax report for you, and e-mail or fax you a copy. That will tell you about any wrecks, and other details on the vehicle history. The ad says "Has Warranty!" which is a good sign, but it may just be a 30-day deal that the business offers. It is definitely recommended that you find out about any extended warranty options, and try to work that into the deal. Looks pretty nice otherwise!

See if you can obtain the former owner contact info from the dealer and extract as much info as you can about the service history. For example, if the a/c compressor fails it's about an $1,100 repair. Engine oil pan gasket repair another $800-$900, or more. If you know a good mechanic for Cadillacs or Auroras pay him to inspect the car prior to the sale, a good dealer will allow this.

not true. i had a dealer run the VIN through, and nothing showed up for my fuel rail recall. "1995oldsaurora WASHINGTON -- General Motors Corp. is recalling 93,572 Oldsmobile Aurora sedans because fuel can leak into the engine and start a fire, the federal government said Friday. The recall affects Auroras from the 1995-1997 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has received 123 complaints about the problem. In one case, a fire started while the vehicle was parked in a garage attached to a home. The vehicle was destroyed and the home was damaged, NHTSA said. The agency said the fuel is leaking because the nylon tubing used in the fuel rail can degrade and crack. Owners will be notified later this spring of GM's plans to repair the vehicles. " Now that's a real dilemma, whether to believe Radeon or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. I'll have to think about this . . . . . .

well you can beleive my cars vin number being run through a d**n machine at the GM dealer or you can believe the NHTSA website - look up Campaign ID # 0V110000. Not all 1995's have been recalled by GM yet, the website says "letters will be forthcoming" for 1995's. They have already sent letters out for 1996-1997. The recall applies to Cadillac Deville, Eldorado and Seville and the Olds Aurora for Model/Build years 1995 to 1997.

Yeah, I was late on this one too but, as far as the fuel rail is concerned it definitely is also a 1995 problem in fact the fuel return line will also need to be changed/updated so it will take an extra hour of work at the dealer… I know this because I own a 95 and I know my car, GM just started with 97s and went down…
