Yea man, happened to me one month after I bought the car. The rad on these cars is plastic...yep..plastic, anyway, its an expensive unit, but they do fail (on all cars) mine cracked where the metal tranny cooler line meets the rad, and it was cracked. Its a replace only repair...sorry to hear, but it will be good now for a good long while.
A rad is one of those things that breaks...its a pain in the ass...but it happens.

Thanks Jim, Sorry for the vent!!! It seems I take one step forward and two steps back! Just started to accumulate some cash after buying the rims and now this! Oh well. Gotta have it I guess. Funny Jim, I've had my car a month and 2 days. Same experience as you! Hmmmmmmmmm! Sounds like a conspiracy to me......... Must be a communist plot to trash Aurora rad's! Maybe it's jealous Cadilac owners upset they didn't get the badging of the Aurora? lol

blackbuty mine cracked right after i bought it. it was due to the people before me not changing the coolant for 4 or 5 years. yes that long and it got very contaminated. also my water pump had to be replaced because of that too....pathetic really. i take super++ care of my car and its quite easy to maintain a vehicle.

you might want to check out radiator.com they have radiators with lifetime warranties. when paid with the installation they provide it just might be worth it. I'd recommend replacing the thermostat at the same time. its not that bad (pricewise) and an easy replace. I think I paid $217 for mine --------------------------- radiator.com says $99 - $199. I'd figure about $150. so with install you are looking at $250 to $300. not bad for a lifetime warranty............. ---------------- www.radiatorbarn.com/s7.asp?ac=Y&year=1995&make=OLDSMOBILE&model=AURORA&submodel=ALL+MODELS&engine_size=V8%2C4.0L%2C244ciBest of luck to ya

It all comes down to what you can afford at the time. My budget allowed for a brand new OE rad, for 800 bux installed, some people dont have that...esp this time of year.
Good luck either way man.

I have seen many metal GM radiators fail. Yep, I had to replace the one in my '69 Executive last year. It was a mere 34 years old. I almost hope my Aurora's radiator DOES fail while my extended warranty is still in effect! I'd rather pay the $50 deductible and get the real deal, then pony up with $800 later. Yeesh!

hmm, yeah, mine failed on me right after i replaced the waterpump on my car which was about 2 and a half months after i bought my car. i've yet to replace the radiator though, i just keep adding fluid, i know exactly where the crack is. I tried sealing it with some epoxy, i put about 1/8" thick layer on there and it still didn't seal it. however, it did slow the leak a little bit. after the holiday season i'll probably replace it.
