Leaking passed the seals. Could see it on the booster. Made 22 years though. Pedal continually got worse. I've begun the process of swapping my interior lights to white LED... finally.. after mulling it over for years haha. Have the cluster done already. Man does it look good with bright pure white light behind it. Epoxied the clips back on to the black outer B-pillar trim as well. I suspect I'll be visiting the salvage yard for another one of those (this was already a yard one) in the spring. Perhaps I'll grab every one they have while I'm there. No posts yet this year? Brakes were terrible. Replaced the master cylinder and front pads/rotors Monday. How come the Master cylinder needed changing?

I suspect I'll be visiting the salvage yard for another one of those (this was already a yard one) in the spring. Perhaps I'll grab every one they have while I'm there. How come the Master cylinder needed changing? I'm always curious about mine. What did the pedal feel like? Mine feels normal and seems to work normal (stop fine) besides the fact that it seems to take more push down effort than most cars to really feel the brakes come on. Doesn't feel spongy like it needs to be bled though, and the brakes are nearly brand new, with Lucerne front calipers (same feel before and after brake job and bleeding brakes) Got the mirror adjust, foglight switch and "fuel/trunk/twilight sentinel/interior lights" bulbs changed over to LED. Tried it with just white but it was too white and too bright haha, stuck the little blue rubber sleeves over the LED's and looks much better. A little more dark blue than the lighter blue I was expecting but close enough to match the cluster well. Seems a little hotspotty at the twilight sentinel side, I don't know if that's a product of the way the diffuser in the display is or the LEDs, I got flat top ones to try and help with that. I'm going to do this project piecemeal as it was quite time consuming doing it all at once before. Next I will hit the climate control/DIC. Think I might leave the green for the indicators and just do the twistlocks. Keep it semi stock looking.

Poor car is under the snow. It's well oiled and all, so it will do fine. Just needs to wait....

Finished the LEDs in the front doors. All that is left is the HVAC and center console. Oh and the two window switches in the back doors.Probably will have it wrapped up this weekend.

All the LEDs but the steering wheel control lights are done. I had actually thought I was finished until driving this morning, whoops haha.

Put my Volvo for sale, cleaned the Aurora. One thing I did is add a (cheap, Chinese) skid plate on my original Aurora mats. There was a big hole in the carpet there from the friction between the carpet and the edge of the drivers shoes... Attachments:

Not today, but Saturday I did plugs to get rid of a slight miss I had. Very strange, happens once every year or other year or so. Don't know if it's oil getting on the plugs or what. Never misses enough to trip the CEL but its noticeable.

I have seen coolant disappear from the tank. Slowly, but... Just in case. Checking the block. On another note, I'm selling my Volvo to focus on my Aurora, captured the Volvo's exhaust sound for "marketing" purposes, and I'd like to reproduce this exhaust note on my Aurora: youtu.be/uED9M1CNa5E ... just hope it's doable!!

BLOCK TESTER: it's blue, but a bit more turquoise than the normal color. I guess the engine shows the beginning of a problem. I ran the test for a good 10 minutes. On the problematic side, but very lightly. For now. Attachments:

Got a new 2003 STS intermediate steering shaft to get rid of the clunking noise... To be installed over the weekend. Preparing for a 2000km trip next week!

I did not get to do the intermediate shaft before the long trip; long trip went well, 1800km @9l/100km (1100 miles @26mpg) on mixed roads, mainly highway and rural roads. The car did well, drank 1/4 of quart oil, but we mainly lost the auto levelling suspension on our way back. That was harsh...!!
No codes thrown for the ELC, will inspect it tomorrow.

Checked the ELC fuse (64): ok Pulled the ELC relay (55): ok
reinstalled the relay, turned the ignition On, the compressor hums, the suspension works now!
I have seen this often with older cars.

Swapped out the rubber heater core hoses on Friday night. Today, once again for the 5th time of my Aurora ownership, the exterior door handle broke. This is the replacement handle on the driver's side. So that's 2 passenger and 3 driver side breaks. Frustrating to say the least. I'll try the fix it and if that doesn't work looks like a new handle again.

New shoes for her yesterday. Yokohamas. I haven't had them on the Aurora before but I've had success with them on other cars. First time in 11 years she won't have Michelins

I usually order Michelins but I was in a pinch this time around and didn't have the tire swapped planned ahead of time. This is what they had in our semi-strange size. I'm happy so far.

No one has done anything to their car in over a year, lol! Got her 2nd official oil change. (packing grease/ high zinc break in oil, 1ST change 50/50 synthetic, 2ND oil change Valvoline 10W-30 full synthetic. I'm hoping to see some improved mpg or power or engine temps. for now plus the longevity bonus.

1.)Got a P0440 code and changed my gas cap to a new AC-Delco and code went away 2.) removed entire cowl, cleaned it top to bottom with a rubber revitalizer and heat gunned it. Came out great. Added new cabin filter while at it. Decided to sand, paint and clear coat my wiper arms. Came out amazing. 3.) Was wondering why my A/C was making noise when turned on and was thinking the worst having to change out the blower motor. Turns out a piece of paper was inside the blower motor 🤣. All is well 4.) Restored my factory headlamps to Crystal clear and ceramic coated them. 5.) Attended to some interior buttons where the lights blew out. Resoldered them and they all work perfect again 6.) Changed the crappy factory wire loom to an updated mesh style. Looks way cleaner.
Damn this Covid-19 really gets you tackling projects 🤣🤣. Damn I love this car!!
