I gotta do that! My pillars look more saggy than an old womans arms haha. Where'd you pick up the fabric?

Thanks guys! Fabric came from a local shop called perfect fit www.perfectfit.comPicked up a proper headliner today. Not only did i mess up mine while setting the new fabric, but tucking the fabric around the sunroof looks a lot worse than having it wrap around the headliner board. In short, they took an already done headliner for a non sunroof Aurora, cut a hole in it, applied some glue, and stuck another layer of fabric on it. For one it makes it flap all over when the windows are open, and two...it just looks bad, esp around the sunroof opening. I'll be heading back to the fabric store on Monday for another few yards of material.

Original headliner: Color difference between old and new fabric: I ended up doing a pretty bad job re-doing the original headliner, partly due to it’s poor design and a failed attempt with some hot glue. I still put it in because it was either that or bare metal. Picked up a solid headliner at the pick-n-pull; aired it out (smoker car), peeled the fabric, scrubbed the foam off, and put the new fabric on. I did a nice job on it but it didn’t fit well and the cutout for the sunroof was too far back and not quite the right size. I was pretty disappointed but left it because I wasn’t about to put the old one back in again. Well this weekend I decided to re-do the original headliner board. So like the other one I peeled the fabric, scrubbed off the foam, glued the new fabric on, hot glued the edges, and then I put a second layer of fabric on the backside because you could see the dynamat logos through the fabric…lol. This morning I swapped boards, took a break, and then cut the hole for the sunroof and tucked the fabric. Turned out better than the first time, and as a precaution I went and picked up some gorilla tape and taped around the opening. As you can see my visors need redone, and currently my map light/homelink piece is the wrong color. I broke mine and when i went to get a replacement the pick n pull had just moved the car into the crush lot, so I had to order one from ebay. Here's an old before pic.

Your visors are contrasting a bit, is that not the orig color fabric?

Your visors are contrasting a bit, is that not the orig color fabric? Visors are the original fabric. When I was at the upholestry shop I bumped into a guy who redoes interiors, said he'd beat the competitors and gave me his card. I'll likely take them to him as I dont have a sewing machine and the skill to redo them and he seemed nice.

I'm probably doing this soon. How much fabric do you think you used for all the pillar covers, and the headliner? Ballpark?

Looks great. Did you recover the actual slider for the sunroof? Somebody careless left my sunroof slightly open and it rained in causing the slider to sag. Had you done a headliner before or was this your first time? Did you enjoy the job? Or would you have let someone else do it for you if you could have? Just curious. I like doing things myself -- but just seems so involved.

Pretty old thread, but since you like to get your hands dirty and do things yourself, I don't think you should be afraid to try it. The hard part of jobs like this is surface prep. Some here have removed and re-covered the sunroof shade, probably easier than the pillars fyi. Just plan ahead, have everything you need, including twice as much material as expected ;-)
Cheers!

And here it is, even older, but a kind soul pointed me this way when I mentioned wanting to redo my quarter pillar covers.
Lucky me, the headliner is in good shape ... that looks like WORK!
PS ... what started it, was I got sick of looking at the stains on the back deck from condensation up here in cold country, and I never did like being able to see the speaker cutouts through the beige cover. The "carpet" itself was in good shape and not peeling at all. Instead of recovering that, I just pulled it and sprayed on a couple coats of Duplicolor black fabric paint. Turned out nice!
Of course, the foam on the pillars had apparently turned to dust and ended up with more wrinkles than me after the job. Apparently they didn't like being touched, as they looked all right until the deck project. Got some new fabric that looks to be a good match, and will get to that shortly.
Thanx for the pics!
PS ... it looks like you also spray the front of the form? My plan was to just maybe use carpet tape on the back and stretch it over, then some hot glue to seal the edges after trimming ...

I wrapped A-B and C pillar cover's in black pleather vinyl a few year's ago..also did the whole headliner and dash with it..i use DAPs contact cement..started to come undone around the sunroof opening and the bottom right side of the dash! But im overhauling the whole interior so im not worried about it now.
Never saw this thread till it showed up in the recent Post's... You did excellent on the wrap BTW! I might take pictures and post of the pillars since their still on good shape and out of the car. Mainly for future ideas as i know thos is a common problem.
