I wonder what possessed them to spotlight the door handles. The same door handles that were on my Grand Prix, the 97-03 Malibu, the Century, the Regal, my 2G, ad infinitum...

I wonder what possessed them to spotlight the door handles. My guess is because it's oval shaped and matches the design "feel" together with the logo, the wheel, the car on the page. Plus the '90s were a time of ovals...just look at the '96 Taurus, various Mazdas, etc.! FWIW, I remember reading somewhere that the 1997 Aurora brochure won some kind of design award. I have that brochure and it's not too different from this one. Both are beautifully done.

My step dad mentioned to me when I got my Aurora last month he was always fascinated by the door handles on it. Something about back when he first saw it, door handles being recessed and flush to the body were very uncommon and he had never seen it before (always with handles stuck out, or push button, etc).
As for the brochure, I had one of those myself, but sometime during one of my moves, I lost it. The only things I can find now are my 1988 Cutlass Supreme Pace Car stuff, and a Big spiral thing I got from Oldsmobile about the 1996 Bravada.
The 1995 Aurora one I had was like the Green one in your pictures. The "front" was the green glossy pics, the "back" when you flipped it over was the while design drawing part.

I know this is an old thread but I love the things you people come up with. I would love to find the brochure for my 96.

I nabbed brochures for the '95 and 2001 Auroras as well as one for the 2000 Intrigue from my parents' house. They're keepers. I also grabbed some Chrysler brochures from the '50s. Those I'll probably be selling.

My nephew got some nice, vintage Oldsmobile dealer brochures from my dad. His little collection spans 1966 (introducing the Toronado), '67, '68, and the 1969 "Youngmobiles" brochure. I was a little jealous when I saw them in his room but I'm glad he had the good taste to snag them.

I was back at my parents' this past weekend and found yet another piece of classic Oldsmobile literature--a 1966 Toronado owners' manual in perfect condition.

I snagged a few more pieces of vintage car literature at my parents' house this weekend, all from the mid-'50s, including two Packard brochures in their original mailing envelopes, a Pontiac brochure and a couple of Chrysler and Plymouth ones. My dad may be a hoarder but he's sure hoarded some good stuff. The movers come this week so this is the end of my digging.

I thought I was done at my parents' but I ended up going back down there this weekend, presumably to help them unpack in their apartment, but ended up spending more time at the old house, gathering up a few last-minute things (Okay, it was more like a whole carload of last-minute things) than I did working in their apartment. Treasures uncovered in the final clean-out included a pair of 1960 DeSoto brochures, a 1938 Cadillac brochure that's in such pristine condition I almost thought it was a reproduction at first, and a small cache of softcover copies of Oldsmobile: The First Seventy-Five Years, which was a commemorative book put out in 1972 by Automobile Quarterly magazine.
