After 12 years I've purchased another truck. I'm always needing a way to haul stuff. I go camping and hunting a lot and on archaeology digs. I needed something to get around off road and so I found this 1990 Jeep on craigslist and snagged it up today for a thousand bones! ya cheap. Attachments:

It's the 4.0 I-6 4X4 !! It was a good buy but it's not without hiccups. The door key is lost. Can a locksmith make a car door key from scratch? It won't start and the owner works in KC and just didn't have time to work on it. It cranks but no fire (kind of like the Aurora) It has a Kenwood HU, fresh tint, new Hankook tires & new coils. I'm getting it towed next door to my neighbors auto shop next weekend. Attachments:

Just a heads up, the crankshaft position sensor in this era XJ is a known issue. Could be causing your no start and is also a cheap fix!
And it might be cheaper/easier to just replace thee locks.

I try not buy vehicles that don't run... but I've done it twice haha. Any real locksmith can cut you a door or ignition key on the spot. It cost me $80 to get the 300M key cut and programmed(bought transponder key on eBay). A door key should be cheaper. Mostly paying for the 'credit' when programming. It has a key fob though...? Carry an extra battery haha.

Nice find, Lance! X2 on the crank sensor. Good call getting the 4.0, you'll be happy you did. I hope it works out for you. If it was in KC you should have had me check it out for you! We have a 94 at work with some fun stuff done to it. I know what you should do if that 4.0 ever goes out... stay tuned. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using ProBoards

Great buy, Lance. Very popular car here, and many horse owner have them for the horse trailer.

It was in Springfield Collins. Once I do some spray paint magic on those 4 bumper corner covers and wax it she'll shine like the dickens I bet.

NICE! Another jeep guy! Not sure if you saw my post, but I recently picked up a Grand Cherokee. I love my jeep! There is a totally different feel of owning a jeep. Snow storms won't even raise an eye brow. My Grand Cherokee already pulled itself out of snow drifts up to the hood! So you should have no problem with the 4x4 capabilities of the jeep.

awesome news! see the previous owner sold it cause they drove it to the store but when thery came out it wouldn't start. They had it towed home then just started throwing parts at it but never had it scanned for codes! Yesterday after school I swung by the shop next door to see if there was any progress. He had just started charging the battery but nothing more. I suggested we look at the firing order because he said he'd replaced the plugs. well within 30 seconds I discovered that #2 plug wire wasn't really connected. It was just sitting on the distributor post but wasnt pushed down. We pulled the plugs to find that they were no where near proper gap. Apparently the owner had no idea what they were doing. We simply gapped the plugs and secured the wire connections and it started right up and runs like a beast lol!

A Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership should be able to cut a door key based on the VIN number. Of course, there's also the option of finding a set of locks with key(s) at a junk yard and fixing it for a comparative pittance.

oh good idea human! I hadn't considered that option. I got some Jeep floor mats for it a couple weeks ago. They are black and gray so matching the color scheme and they say Jeep. I also waxed the passenger side and hood and rear entry door. I haven't got around to waxing the driver's side yet but wow what a difference it's made so far. And I changed the air filter.

Update. Been busy , I ordered a set +1(spare)of new Kuhmos but they messed up and sent Yokohamas. I got to upgrade for $5 a tire! Got some jeep floor mats, jeep steering wheel cover, jeep cd holder, cup holder, tinted lisence plate covers, subs, battery, battery cables, foglights, fuel filter, PCV valve, K&N panel filter, plugs, oil change, first round of orbital buff & wax (could use a few more), I sprayed the fender flares & bumper corners, and last but not least boasting some proud bumper stickers! Still need to do the niteshades on the taillights, rear shocks, bumper brush guard maybe with winch, pull the fire blanket and louver the hood or insert heat extractors, hitch cover, pinstripes, seat covers, and I'm thinking cat-back exhaust.

Jealous haha. I need to get me a Jeep Cherokee I've been looking at Wrangler TJs since spring. Never found one I thought was worth what I would have put into it. Season is kind of over now, though snow can be fun.

I've just always enjoyed the look of the cherokee. I have the problem of not being able to find one that seems worth what they are asking for it. And finding a rust free one in my area is next to impossible. When you do be prepared to spend major $$$$ no matter what may be wrong with it.
