So my car is at 175,000 miles.... Leaks oil, main unibody rails have 6" holes on both sides under passenger and driver side. Thinking about buying coil spring donuts, raising the front 2", pumping up my rear air shocks to the same and putting SUV tires on it. Just for the fun of it no other reason. Just a thought. Wouldn't cost much

Eh, why? Monster trucks are so 90's I say, go 70's... Get some big fat rear tires on cheap mag wheels, a fake hood scoop, an old Camaro trunk spoiler, drill holes in the mufflers, get an old welded chain steering wheel, and some pink shag carpet on the parcel shelf. Make it a hot rod - now that'll totally freak everyone out! Whatever you do, if it's a first gen, grab that Multifunction Switch before entering it in the demolition derby!

The um multi switch? Ya. No dash, fog or running lights, hard wired running lights into radio fuse, so the multi switch has been junk lol as for dash lights? Use my speedometer app on my phone lol

I did just have to put a new quick strut in it. The front spring was pushing through the plate into the tire. Relatively simple to replace, only took 15 minutes, it was the $200 for the part that sucked. May try putting in one of those donut spring spacers and clamping the spring to it. That would lower it an inch maybe and stiffen up the ride a bit

Just curious if you have the part # on those quick struts. I was under the impression they didn't make them for our cars.

2000-2005 pontiac bonneville, Buick lesabre, and 98-2004 cadillac Seville and deville all have same suspension parts so you gotta look under those sometimes. The Aurora 1st gen was an experimental platform for gm with a lot of parts that were ahead of its time for design and they used them in a lot of their newer platforms so you gotta cross reference new vehicle part numbers to check. It's a long process but I get bored at night sometimes and look that ******* up lol plus I've read the history of the Aurora and what cars gm built after it was ceased but used same designs. The pontiac g8 was actually the intended replacement of the aurora

At 1A auto online you can buy a pair for $326 of monroe quick struts, PART #: MNSSP00124. That's almost $100 cheaper than buying a pair of Gabriels from auto zone

I have 07 Lucerne type brakes on the front of my '97, Bonneville front struts, a Bonneville GXP strut tower brace, and 2g Aurora type rear sway bar. If you have all the hardware, Lucerne front and rear sub frames will bolt on to our Auroras, on the front frame you have to cut the front ends off.

That is good to know info.... Maybe I'll put a lil extra cash into the old girl and restore it. Everything suspension and brake wise is brand new in the car. just needs a lil engine and tranny care or maybe do the cadillac swap engine and tranny..... Depending what the cost would be

Cost me about $1200 altogether, I bought a used 4.6 275 hp and a Cadillac trans with the autobahn Aurora ratio. Cadillacs did not come out with that combo, but '04-'05 Bonneville GXPs did. I am up to 234,000 miles, 3rd motor, but the second one was bunk when I installed it.

That sounds like a good route. I gota fix my subframe thought. Main support rails under unibody have 6" holes on both sides so I gotta get some metal and weld it back for structural support
