Here's the specifics...
2001 3.5L
74K on the clock
Temp gauge is at the dead center mark... If you count from top to bottom... The motor feels hotter than I like. It smells like it's running hot. (hot parts smell). The needle doesn't budge an inch once it gets warm. I'm sort of concerned on this one. I'll try to post a pic.

At idle the low speed fans will kick on around 15 minutes. If you are driving the coolant temp should stay around 200 degrees.
Do you have an android or iOS based technology available? You can monitor real time info with a BT module on the OBD2 port and an app.
Also, did you convert your instrument panel lights to LED?

Everything but the rims are bone stock. Can you see the pic I posted? It's a shot of my gauge cluster...

I can see your pic, that's exactly where mine sits. My scan tool says that's 197 oF.

Good place to start. But take it to be tested, there are a lot of places that this can leak. Let's start there and see. If that does not cure it we can start looking at other things. ...gene

so I sanded down the pipe and bought a new gas cap. I had the cold erased yesterday afternoon and I did quite a bit of driving between yesterday and tonight and needless to say. The light never came back on. So with that being said I have no lights on the dash! The car is now perfect... lol

2001 3.5l. When driving temperature fluctuates from middle of gauge to third line from bottom to top.( running hot) replaced thermostat and radiator. Any suggestions.

might be air in a system or issue with water pump.

Check your coolant crossover gaskets, if they have not been changed they are bad and could be causing air to get in the system.

Do they have to be leaking to cause a problem? I've also been reading that they are quite the pain to change...
