Hi! I just recently joined after looking around online for some answers to my car issues.
I have a 1996 Aurora that I have owned for over 10 years that has worked great! Besides some basic fixes and routine maintenance, I have had no issues, that is until recently. A few months ago I had acceleration issues, which seemed to be fixed by replacing the plugs and wires. About a month and a half ago, I had a very similar issue come up that was resolved by replacing the coil pack. Well, two weeks ago the same thing started happening. When running, the engine ran very rough, the Check Engine light was flashing, and would kind of 'glug-glug-glug' as well. I brought it in to be fixed, had the O2 sensors replaced but that was the furthest the mechanic was able to go so he referred my elsewhere, where they figured out that the pressure relief valve (?) on the manifold had completely degraded and that they would need to replace the whole intake manifold, which will run me $1000+ for parts and labor.
As I looked around online, I saw a few threads discussing similar issues (including on here) and some seemed to agree that the single valve could be purchased for much, much, cheaper than the whole intake manifold. My questions is how intensive something like that would be, as I am not really too much of a handyman, and if it would be worth purchasing that single part and seeing if they will possibly even just replace that? Any help would be appreciated, the articles I mentioned are linked below!
