Ok good deal. That method makes sense too. Whenever you have a chance to draw it up.

Waiting on my filler and some other miscellaneous cables to come in. Still been playing with homescreens and the software side of things. But I'm sure I will never decide on a perfect layout. I have added volume buttons, skip track, and play/pause buttons to the navigation bar. Makes it easy to adjust no matter which app I'm in. I do need to play around with making them a bit larger though. r This app is ok I suppose. Car Dashdroid. Would be a lot better if I could make it pretty. Very simple, too simple for my tastes possibly.

The Bluetooth OBD works just fine. I have not paid for the full version of Torque just yet. I added just a few gauges and dials just to see how things worked. My particular OBD scanner stays on when the car is off. There's one small red LED. Not sure if it's enough to drain the battery or not. Will have to check on that later

The LED for my alarm is a bright blue one that flashes when armed, I have left my car off and locked for more than a week before and it started right up when I got back from vacation. If the only thing drawing on it is the LED, I think you'll be ok.
It all looks great! I like the audio buttons on the bottom bar, that's a great addition.

Yeah it likely not a huge draw. There is an LED on my OBDII adapter that stays on all the time as well. I also have the CarPC on hibernate which draws power and aftermarket alarm that flashes an LED in the OEM security location. Even the on-board battery charger/maintainer has an LED always on. Granted I've never measured the parasitic drain I've never had any issues but I will plug-in the maintainer if not using the vehicle for a week or longer. You should be fine.
BTW I didn't forget about the diagram just haven't had time to sketch it. Let me know if you want to go that route or stick with the cigarette adapters. You should find the urethane supply plastic repair easy to work with. It is sandable in 15 minutes IIRC. Also I believe I used flexible bumper paint on the bezel. HTH.

I'll leave it plugged up from here on out.

Whenever you get a chance is fine. I think I have a pretty good general idea of how to run everything. For clarity, I need -2 stepdowns(1 for tablet, 1 for usb hub) -Would I need 2 relays or 1 relay? -Wire them up to the same ACC wire, ground both of course I'm ordering the filler tomorrow. And yes that helps. I'll decide on the paint later, depending on how the bodywork goes.

THIS is what has been holding up my project!!! Just waiting on weather. Fingertips freeze as soon as I touch a wire LOL.

That'll certainly hinder the progress! I feel your pain. Time for winter to end so I can actually get my '96 out and about.

inno, project looks and sounds great so far. Good luck. I installed a 2012 3G Nexus 7 into my aurora a couple/few years ago. If you have any questions, feel free to get at me. Sall actually helped me out with some electrical work, really good guy to talk to about these things. 1) Can I ask why you went with "4.4.4 AutoDroid v1.2 ROM" as opposed to "Timur's usb Rom"? (I have the rom for the 2012 3G "tilapia" model if you want it). 2) You can find a small 2.5" external 1tb HD that powers off the usb, that's what I use in my car. Keeps you away from another cord and device that needs separate power. 3) make sure you get an OBD2 bluetooth adapter that auto turns off or you'll most likely be pulling that out quite often. 4) you might want a kill switch between the power line and whatever that power's the tablet/usb/hd/etc. you will find while driving something could go wrong (tablet/soundcard/HD/whatever devices you have connected) where you need to power everything off and back on *very annoying on the highways*.
Can't really think of anything else that i've experienced. You have me thinking of switching up my audio setup and stream audio out through bluetooth, as opposed to usb out to a DAC then amp. It would simplify things, take a device and wires out, but i've heard with bluetooth you lose some quality. Let me know how it all sounds once all's hooked up and in place properly. especially after a few weeks of use.
*** ok I didn't read the 2nd page of posts before posting that. if sall says you don't have to worry about the OBD2 adapter draining the batt, then you're good.

irectus Thanks. Do you have any pics, or a thread where I can see your project? I'm sure I'll have some questions for you.
1) Surprisingly, I can't remember why I chose Autodroid. I do know for a fact that hunting down Timurs for the wi-fi only model was a headache and I still have not found it. Also, I think some of the apps I use needed a newer firmware version than Timurs supported.
4) I did not think of that kill switch idea. Good one.
Audio through Bluetooth is not that bad at all in my opinion. Mainly because there's so much room for adjustment on the head unit. Sometimes it will randomly turn itself off, or disconnect from my radio every now and then. I have not tested it in car long enough to track down the issue. I will certainly let you know after it's mounted a few weeks like you said.
*oh yea the OBD drain seems minimal if any drain at all. Left it in for about a week straight and the voltage on the DIC was the same each morning.*

I have FINALLY started doing the bodywork for the bezel. I have been riding around ugly for months. Haha for a while, function was more important than form. But it was such an eye sore. And I've officially learned my lesson, next time take sall's advice, or use a better body filler in general. I got bondo from Autozone. Or maybe since this is my first time, I have a headache. Coming along though. Getting these edges better is the task
The upper left corner is the one giving me the most trouble.

Thanks. Would you like to help me source some woodgrain that matches the Aurora interior? I think it will be fine. But if I throw in the towel on bodywork, slapping woodgrain over it.

Some type of burlwood vinyl would be a close match but likely not identical. Pick a wood grain vinyl you like and re-do all the interior pieces!

You would have to trim the actual wood grain kit to fit around the tablet opening and likely not come out very well. I am suggesting a woodgrain vinyl overlay.

Irectus, which program do you use to load your music from the hard drive? On startup, rocket player takes forever to search all of my music folders before I can play them. Also looking for one with a nice user interface

All i have to do is iron the fabric and glue it down. There are some imperfections, but at this point I feel I can live with them. I see now one of the edges are not straight. I sanded it, bodyworked until it was super smooth. But then I paint and its not as smooth anymore. Soooo, I give up lol. Something in my painting technique that gives it a slight texture. If I go too close, the paint gets glossy. Too far away, textured.

So I ended up sanding it down a bit more and painting it using a different paint...using my shower and had the bathroom covered in plastic. Yep the single life! It was much too humid outside which gave me the texture issues. Here it is complete and good enough for me at the moment. It's a satin finish. The lighting is weird. It's a lot more flat than what it looks like. The sun shows flakes in the paint.

Thanks. Its pretty stable. I don't really like the way it behaves with my external drive sometimes. Maybe next time I'll go with the original idea of a full PC instead of tablet.
