Well, its better than stuck open and is better than the driver's door being stuck closed I suppose. I can find no combination of key fob unlocking or doing it manually to get my passenger front door open. The inside manual lock does move but it feels "sticky". The outside handle also has a similar lack of spring. Any tips on removing the panel with the door closed? I found this thread aurorah.proboards.com/thread/3343?page=1 which has great information on handle replacement when the door can open but I question what I am going to do to that panel since I don't think I can get to the bottom screws. Thanks guys.

You may be able to remove the trim around the interior door handle, and then be able to reach in and manually move some rods. Just a thought.

If you remove the handle surround you should be able to get to the rods that do the unlocking and door opening, unless they have come disconnected somehow. Even then, you should be able to use a long magnet or grabber to get a hold of them. It won't be easy, but it is do-able! Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using ProBoards

I got in with the key this morning! Don't even know why I tried again. The lock motion does not seem quite right. Too tight I think. At least now I can take it apart normally.
Thanks for the tips. If it gets stuck shut again I might just have to "break out"

Little late to party should door lock shut again which my 99, 1st Gen did, If you lower the window look at end of door where the weather strip is, gently pry it back a bit. Look down by the door jamb. There is a rod going from key mechanism to the release for the door lock. I took a coat hanger, bent it into an "S", snaked it around the rod and then pushed down ! Door popped open !
I then ordered a new OEM handle for $151, ouch ! Had it painted and installed, all done (Heard horrible stories about aftermarket

I had the same problem with my 99 Aurora and after changing the lock (that didn't do anything) I bought a aftermarket door handle replacement. When I compared the original one to the Chinese copy I noticed that mine was hanging up from corrosion. The factory handle has a screw holding the assembly together and that allowed me to disassemble the unit and clean the parts on the wire wheel. After lubricating the cleaned part it worked as well as the replacement. I was able to use the original handle and save a paint matching hassle. Anyone want a never used aftermarket Aurora door handle (cheap)?
