My power windows in my 98 Aurora don't seem to be working. While I was driving today I noticed when I would try and move the window up the lights would dim in my car now my window stuck half open.
I'm unsure how to force the window up manually I tried using a bit of muscle and the window wouldn't budge ...also how can I fix this issue none of my windows will move

Most common issues with the windows are the wiring in the rubber conduit from the door to the body, and the window motor/regulator assembly. Do you hear the motors clicking/whirring/buzzing/grinding at all when you use the window switch? If not, check the wiring in the rubber conduit from the door to the body. If you do hear it, the door wiring is probably fine. Replacement motors seem to be available at RockAuto for about 20 bucks, but I didn't see regulators there. Given that it seems to be stuck in one position, rather than moving freely, I suspect the regulator itself is fine.
If you hear the motors when you try it, you may have better luck getting the windows up by pushing the switch up while pushing the window up with your other hand, or have a helper hit the switch while you pull from both sides.

No buzzing or any noise is made and I'm unable to move the window up at all..it gives maybe half and inch then it would move

I would like to add that I checked the door jam for broken wires and I found none

I would take off the inner door panel and check for voltage at the wiring harness going to the motor when using the window. If there's voltage there, and you're not getting any movement, you'll want to get a new power window motor. I believe you'll have to take the entire regulator out to get to it.

Very doubtful all the motors/regulators failed at once. Check all the door jambs for broken or cracked wires. They may not appear broken. Look closely. Otherwise sounds like the master switch is bad.

Don't forget to check the fuse.

Ok so I fixed the issue I took the door panel off and I pulled out the master switch and found corrosion on one of the connectors and quickly cleaned it off and plugged it back in and it worked like new!

Don't know if the inner door workings are the same in a 98 as a 99 but I changed my front driver side motor out without removing anything but the motor itself...15 mins and I was done

Lol....I jinxed myself by posting on this thread because now my passenger side window is having issues the door closed the window will only go down and not back up and with the passenger side door open the window will move up and down freely from the driver side switch and the passenger side switch .....I'm suspecting wires. But I must add the motor seems not as strong as the driver side and the driver side acted the same when I replaced it and now it works every time without a problem. I guess I should buy a test light first before buying a motor... Anyone have any input?

You can check for voltage at the motor, and do continuity tests on the switches. That said, door wiring does seem likely with how it changes behavior based on the door position.

Yep it has to be a wiring issue I took the door panel off to have a look and noticed it had been off before I bought the vehicle because they had the wiring harnesses smashed up in the wrong spot I put them back to where they are meant to be and pressed on the connections to make sure they were snug and now its operating as it should...I think I'm just gonna let it ride for now until I have more trouble with it
