In the last few months, my spare tire cover has been sliding forward about six inches, and of course, the stuff in the cargo net falls into the spare tire well and makes it impossible to slide it back into place without emptying the trunk.
Any ideas why? Any fixes?

There should be tabs that lock in to the plastic cover of the trunk . some times u have to band them to lock in to place

There are no tabs, nor is there any place on the cover where there used to be tabs.

Mine's got a couple velcro tabs on it. Not sure if those are original, but they do the job.

Hmm neither of my classics have had one, which is strange since we both have a '98, right?

Pretty sure it is in the '98 but maybe not. I haven't been in its trunk for over a year and it has been parked in my parents extra stall since about October last year. Anyways, the '96 definitely has it. Will snap a pic later.

Started pissing the rain down as soon as I opened the trunk. Always felt this design was way better. Up until you said otherwise I had thought this was a '95 only thing. I don't know why they would have changed it. The way they have it in the 98-99 sucks.

I don't see why they cant be swapped so long as you get the jack/holder. Not sure if the jacks are the same or not.

I found the tabs. They don't go into the "plastic cover of the trunk," whatever that may have been, but into the trim piece at the back of the trunk. And yeah, I had to bend them pretty severely to make it work.
