I'd like to first say Hello. I've been a member for almost a year now and never said hi. Now I really want to say thanks. I've had my 1999 Aurora for a year now and have a few issues with it but I'm fairly mechanically proficient so I've never asked any questions but I have taken advantage of all the information here in the boards. It's saved me lots of money and time. Just tonight I finished installed new front struts (I used the gabriel complete set), front brake pads and rotors and then had to partially disassemble to install new wheel bearings. My car has 201,000 miles on it and the struts where original. I thought she road good before, now it's like floating. Love it. I've had and sorta still do have a cooling issue but I've installed a new water pump and thermostat. I'll probably do a radiator sometime but the way I drive my car it never gets hot and going down the road it's just fine. Long blabbering story short all the information I've found here is awesome. I worked at a GM dealer when these cars came out and never thought I'd have one. Happy I do now

Welcome to the club, glad we could help. I've been thinking about struts myself, how easy is the job?

Mine wasn't too bad. I used hand tools for the whole job. larger bolts where pretty tight and I needed to flex a bit and use a breaker bar and then I used an 8lb sledge to push the serrated bolts out but other than that pretty easy. The ready to install are the way to go. If my parts where sitting beside me ready to go on I'd say it would have taken 1-2 hours tops. I was looking for a popping noise and thought it was the upper mounts.

Where did you get your struts? Have part numbers?

sorry rca1186 I haven't been on the boards in a long time. I got my strut kits from RockAuto. Gabriel brand. after having them on the car for a year+ I have found them to be a bit soft in town when hitting the dips we have here in concordia. I do still love the way the car drives down the highway. 207,000 and still with a 4.0 with no heating problems (well since I replaced the radiator and installed the thermostat correctly LOL)

Thank you for the response. I looked into the Gabriel's on RockAuto, the only thing that scares me off from them is they list the same part for the 2G when I know that strut travel/spring rate should be different for both cars.
