Need some help removing the 2nd Gen center console... I got as far as getting the rear carpet out. After that, I'm kind of stuck. Not looking to get it completely out as I cut the carpet. Just need it to go up enough to put the new carpet in. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever thought of putting in the graphite carpeting on a beige interior for contrast?

The wood grain and shifter frame in the center has screws inside the console door, and under the cupholder. Unless you take out the shifter you will not be able to remove the console, only twist it out of the way for your new carpet. there are screws under that shifter pattern frame that hold the console to the floor. I'm sure you got the rear screws already. All the screws are visible if you move the seats forward and back. Its a big job. You run the risk of cracking and splitting the wood if the front screws aren't removed.
