If anyone doesn't know, replacing the mufflers is actually really easy. I did it with a 14mm socket and ratchet 2 2inch exhaust clamps 2 new mufflers 1 pair of slip joint pliers(large) The aftermarket mufflers have a larger inlet pipe than OEM so that it will slip over the 1 7/8 pipe and then clamp down with a 2 inch clamp. I would suggest cutting the old mufflers new further than an inch away from the muffler to get the best mating surface for the new ones. I used a reciprocating saw with metal cutting blades and safety glasses. I didn't even have to jack up the car either. Basically, cut off the muffler, use the pliers to help push the muffler out of the hangar and boom. Then put the new muffler over the Y pipe and slip into the hangar. This is what both of my mufflers looked like: They didn't even muffle anymore haha and were full of carbon chunks.

Yeah haha. Although I do recommend replacing the Y pipe, it doesn't cost that much but its up to you. on rock auto, the "kit" for exhaust overhaul includes all you need and is only 100 more than buying the mufflers seperately. It gives you resonator back for 350 rather than 2 mufflers for like 220 dollars.

Thanks for the information. Very useful. The ones on my 4.0 look just like your old ones. I'm thinking of doing straight pipes instead, however. But I'm concerned it might be too much drone.

Lol true. The right one is like that. I think the left one hasn't rusted open yet.
