I understand this part is discontinued, and cost over $990 when it WAS available! My ‘96 Aurora traction control light comes on intermittently and I am told this part is the cause. So no traction or abs - not the end of the world but want to know if anyone has found a fix - can my old unit be repaired, or are these available somewhere?

How they found out it was that part? most of the time that part lives long time. I had 2 intrigues 4 Auroras up to 215k miles never had to be replaced. most common issue bad wires or hub bearing or connector but not the unit it self.

Paul is correct. It would be worth looking into it with another shop or if you are mechanically inclined, yourself.

I too was going to suggest wiring or hub sensors

Thanks, I think it may be from reading a code but the trigger is that my traction light goes off and on randomly; also the traction button on the console does nothing. I was hoping it was some dirt or corrosion on some terminals somewhere. The tech who told me this was trained as a master tech at a local Olds dealer back in the day but they never had many to work on/did not sell many out here. No way I intent to replace this valve but I will take your suggestions and check everything I can. Thanks!

If The light is off for the ABS /tac on the cluster and system works fine and you push the Trac button and nothing happens possible bad switch and you need to get new console switch. If it does work than i would go to another shop. Just because he worked at the Olds dealer means he knows everything. Most dealer mechanic i saw go by the book without any logical thinking. if you get trac/abs light i think auto zone can scan codes for free . That way of you tell us the code we can check.

Thanks for all this input - the console switch is no longer available I am sure!? Will keep an eye out for one, junkyard cars I’ve seen this area is usually pretty sketchy.
