So a while back, my Gen 2 needed a LOT of things, all at the same time. The VERY DAY, I put 2 new tires on it, the radiator went on the way home. When I put a new radiator in it, THE VERY MOMENT I started it up, the alternator light came on. So despite the fact that it was pushing its usual 14.8V, with the new alternator, the battery still goes dead. Soon after I put the new battery in, the starter gets flaky on me. The funny part here, is that the new radiator needs to come out, in order to replace the starter! But NOW, along with the installation of a new crank sensor a few months earlier, most of those things that might leave you sitting, are brand-dandy new, and I'm feeling great about the future of my baby!
It had needed brakes for some time, so I just confidently plopped down the $ for all new rotors, shoes, and calipers... ALL AROUND! As my buddy mechanic is putting the last rear wheel back on, something catches my eye. "What's that", I innocently ask. Turns out that right where the driver's side rear shock attaches to the rear suspension sub-frame, there's more than rust, there are actually a couple of holes! A death sentence ! They say 'anything can be fixed', but try telling that one to a certified Pennsylvania inspection mechanic!
Now here's my problem... Until I find some other big, luxurious, quiet, comfortable, smooth-riding, smooth running, well-equipped, Euro-competitive, 215 hp mid-size V6, that tachs out at 2K when driving 70 MPH, while delivering 29.8 MPG, what can I do? So I'm currently in the market for a 3.5 Gen 2, even though I'll probably need to pay DOUBLE what I did 4 years ago! I can't see myself driving anything else. But that will leave me with my own personal junkyard of like new-parts!
