Transmission runs fine when cold. When hot it takes a second to go into gear. The warmer it gets the longer it takes and starts to slip. Previous owner took to shop replaced torque converter shop said Valve body looks warn. 35k miles on car (extremely well taken care of) it didn't throw codes on my cheap code reader. Could this be valve body? Or pressure regulator solenoid? Something else? Both? Note: 98 Oldsmobile Aurora NorthStar motor Autobahn package 35k miles
Side note: have parts car 98 Oldsmobile Aurora NorthStar motor SAME EVERYTHING, ExceptNo Autobahn package. 28k miles
If valve body is bad will parts car one work? I know I might as well replace pressure regulator solenoids, filters, (Is there anything else there) while I'm up in there)?

I would have guessed torque converter as well. These transmissions usually have trouble with the shift solenoids breaking but I would think that problem would be present whether hot or cold. The valve body would work, I think the only difference between autobahn and non autobahn as far as the trans goes is the differential.

Is the non autobahn trans in good shape? You could just swap in the whole thing (Don't forget to swap the PCMs!).

Yes the parts car is good, it overheated in Oregon they replaced both sensors for the fans drive it back to Missouri bought another car just like it (they one I'm trying to get on the road) then parked it beside the barn and it's been sitting for about 6 or 7 years. All wiring and things still look great on it and the transmission is good. I don't know if the shop has to remove the valve body to replace the torque converter but when he replaced the torque converter he says the valve body looked worn. But with such low miles I don't see it having problems but figured I would swap it out we the parts one and put new shift solenoids bracket and filters also replace the pressure regulator solenoid if that is a different part. Hopefully it's in the same spot and don't have to drop the whole tranny. One question tho how would the VB look worn? Can I get a rebuild kit for it?

I really don't see how a valve body could be worn on a low mileage car. You should be able to do the work through the pan, no drop necessary.

I really don't see how a valve body could be worn on a low mileage car. You should be able to do the work through the pan, no drop necessary. Ok now I'm back to it, couldn't work on it during the winter and finally have some cash now. I was wrong about the milage it's 138k. Still no codes, but I've been reading the thick ass manual and I'm going to test it before I replace it with my parts one. After I got the car on stands took wheel off and inner fender I noticed the shop that replaced the torque converter didn't put a nut on a engine mount, didn't put a nut on my sway bar and a bunch of issues when reading my manual was saying missing check ball. So with those nuts being gone I'm not putting it past the shop that they lost one. Is there a thread or video on checking the line pressure, and a thread and video for using a voltmeter to check the things within my transmission. I'm trying to do this proper and I cannot find any video on it. I would just replace but if the transmission was bad, it would slip to begin with. And if I put in another one I would replace all sylonoids, pressure regulator ect. I have some other questions about the "special tools" that are called for use within the manual. Like the volt meter, if I need that exact one or.. and the best "cheap" scan tool and that $700 jumper wire kit. But I'm going to search threads for it first before posting about it!

The thread I posted earlier really is the only info I know of on the forum that is concerning this unfortunately.
