Problem with water pump or thermostat or head gasket issue. Does it the car cools down if you hold RPMS at 2k?

Than something is blocked or air in system or heater core. I would test for head gasket issue as well

If both heater hoses are warm, the heater core has to be warm. Is the air coming out of the vents cold or is there no air coming out at all? It could be a blend door or blower motor issue.
I think your overheating is a separate issue. Agree with Paul, head gasket(s). Test your coolant for exhaust gases.

tigger Might be blend door but when my moms had head gasket issue had exactly same symptoms no heat and overheating. so ye best to check head gasket first before replacing parts

I had a "99 Aurora that had a broken water pump belt. It's located to the right of the front of the engine. It runs off the camshaft. It's a bit tricky to replace the belt, but I was able to do it myself. A few year prior, I had a leaky water pump which I also replaced myself but failed to replace the drive belt at that time. If your engine overheats, CHECK THE WATER PUMP BELT!
