Hello , Went to put away my summer 99 and get out my winter 95 and ran into multiple problems with the 95 so I think it is time for my 21 YO 99 to see what winter in Buffalo is all about. I purchased the 95 in Dec 94 and I must admit it hurts a little to let it go. 26 years is a good run and the longest I have ever kept a car. The 99 was a great find on Ebay in 2011 with 1 owner then 94 YO and only 41,000 miles and no winter exposure. The body is virtually like new and even now with 62,000 on it I hope to be driving it for may years going forward.
On the 95 the PS rack has been leaking a little and now the alternator is putting out almost 18 volts after a couple of minutes run time. Both these jobs are not easy on a gen 1 Aurora. there also may be some wiring problem as a fully charged battery will self drain overnight. My 95 and 99 are identical exterior colors and same options so I will be parting it out in the spring and Junking the rest. To all in the club if any one is in need of parts specific to the 95 model, which includes many emissions items, some of the computers and body control modules, and the interior which is " mushroom color " will be available. My interior is still in very good condition. Much or the car will be saved for potential use on the 99.

Yeah, it's a difficult decision... Kind of in the same place with my '01. Funny that I'm feeling the same with my '98. I've had it 9 years and 100k miles so far. But I don't think I'll be getting rid of it, more of parking it in the second garage spot and buying a new car. Maybe restoring it if possible. Albeit slowly and over time. I want to pull and re-seal the motor maybe even stud it. It has been my daily since about 2014 and that has taken its toll. Honestly though besides the leaks, the only thing it really needs is paint (paint has flaked off of the primer coat in several areas) and maybe re-do the headliner/pillars. Cosmetics.. Makes me wonder if I should bother keeping this one or instead look for one with low miles and mint condition. It would make life easier. But you know....sentimental reasons

But if I was you. I would try and get a different vehicle to keep your 99' from seeing the winter salt. Our 95' is still running with all original tranny and engine and my parents have had it since new along with my 99'. So I know whats its like having a car for so long in the family. There is nothing like that v8 sound and with the same fuel economy with the luxury amenities.
