I am feeling pretty good right now, after two partial days of work getting things unhooked I was able to pull the TCC sensor out and put the new one in. I don't have the clip back in yet, the manuals and videos I've watched do not show how to put it back in. I found a picture of the valve body that shows exactly where the clip goes in so tomorrow I'll try that again. Once that's in, it's time to put it back together and hope I got everything fixed. I did end up removing the front motor mount nut from the crossmember which helps give a little more pan clearance by raising the engine up a bit more. It's trial and error figuring out whether to go up or down with the engine depending on what I was doing but all I'm thinking about is the $$$ I'm saving by doing it myself. This is the picture I found tonight and I highlighted the location of the pin in case anyone needs to change theirs. Attachments:

All the YouTube guys are right, you need a LOT of patience to do this without pulling the trans. The original TCC connector was broken and I didn't have much to grip. So when it came out it dropped into the space between the pan and valve body. I figured it went to the bottom but it was just out of reach. I was able to move it around and finally got a very tiny grip between two fingers and got it out. It took 15 minutes just to do that though.

I spent another hour today trying to get the damned clip in without success. This time I used a piece of flat bar strategically bent but I'm having a lot of trouble holding the clip in. I was so frustrated when I gave up I was saying words I didn't know I knew. That's how maddening this is. It's right there!!! I can't see the hole but it's right f'g there!
(sigh)

I picked up some long, curved forceps and a small extendable magnet from Harbor Freight last night. I put the clip on the end of the magnet, then put a piece of wire through it to make sure it didn't fall off, then had to use green masking tape to keep it from sliding on the magnet and then around the shaft so it wouldn't turn like it did before the tape. I gave up on the mirror because I just couldn't see well enough and went by feel. I actually got it in the slot! I was finally able to see it well enough with a mirror that it looked like it was in place, so I snaked my finger into the area and could feel it. I pushed a little and looked in the mirror again - success? Maybe. It took a while to get the wire out but I did with the forceps. Then I pushed the clip in as much as I could feel. Another look in the mirror and I think I can barely see the top of the clip. I tried pulling the sensor out and it won't come out so I'm calling it good but I'm not celebrating until it's all back together, running & tested to make sure it's working now.
What an incredibly difficult job! Fifteen minutes to get the clip out, two hours to get it back in. lol! Wow.
Now I have to clean up and put everything back together. I'll report back when I know if it's actually fixed or not.

Well. Aside from getting the fluids topped off now it's back together. I took it for a test drive up to 60mph and the TCC isn't locking up, but it could still be the computer setting. I don't know what the Tech2Win settings/readings are supposed to be for it, but the cruise is still disabled and I don't see the TCC setting I remember seeing previously.

Do you still getting a code? cuz it should go away on its own as I remember.

The P0741 code popped back up after driving it a couple of times. I still need to check it with the ACDelco SPS program which I finally got working on my desktop but it won't work on my laptop. So I have to drag the desktop out to the garage, probably tomorrow, and see if I can figure it out with that. The aftermarket sure makes it affordable but the hours you have to put in to get the stupid things to work is ridiculous. I'm hoping I can set the TCC to On, instead of "stuck off". Everything else seems to be working properly so now I get to figure out of I have a tire balance issue at 70mph. When I first start it it seems to idle a little rougher, but that could still be the MAF and crank sensors that need to be recognized/set up in the computer. I don't get any other errors. I will also need to doublecheck the MAF boots to make sure they're sealing properly.

Might be bad sensor or might be another issue at times when this code come up you need to rebuild trans.

That's not happening. lol! I only paid $2800 for the car, I'll drive it as is until I decide to sell it or until the wheels fall off. I might put 2k miles on my car a year now so it "should" last a while only having 130k on it. The oil leak is going to drive me nuts though.

Bad brake switch can cause TCC codes as well. It was common in other GM cars not so much in Aurora but anything is possible.
