Hello, i just acquired my second car a 98 aurora and im noticing it is having a rough time starting. It cranks over but takes about 5-10 seconds before it actually starts. Anyone know a fix for this? it doesnt appear to be the battery and i nice gas smell right after it starts occurs.

Now this may have nothing to do with it, but with my 1997 Aurora, it seemed to crank a bit too long to start, and I noticed a gas smell. Turned out to be a leak where the quick-connect gas lines attach to the fuel rail, close to the water pump on the driver's side under the hood. Worth checking. I ended up cutting off the leaky quick-connector and a few inches of nylon fuel line and then splicing in a new bit of fuel line with a new quick-connector. Now it starts fast, and no gas smell. I've attached a pic. Hope this helps, but again, this is only my best guess. Good luck! Greg "Dr K" Kennedy

cycle key twice, if it starts quicker you arent getting enough fuel. would recommend fuel filter and putting injcector cleaner in tank

Any codes? Sounds like my car when the crank sensor accidentally got unplugged.

cycle key twice, if it starts quicker you arent getting enough fuel. would recommend fuel filter and putting injcector cleaner in tank would the car still run good once started if it was the fuel filter or injectors? once it starts it runs perfect.

Also, a restricted filter could very well show on just startup but not running if it just restricts it enough to keep the fuel primed enough for a cold start but is easily overcome when running.
