Anyone know of a reason why when sometimes accelerate from 0 MPH all of sudden tranny shifts suddenly, RPM's go way up? I let up on gas and if I apply gas right then the RPM's are still. If I give it a few seconds, then shifts and runs fine. Is this indicative of a "slipping" tranny or maybe shift solenoids sticking? Any thoughts??

Ricky, Sounds like you have a transmission problem that could be either shift solenoids or transmission itsself. How many miles are on your vehicle? What is the transmission level like? When you check the fluid what does it look like? Does it look burnt and does it smell burnt? Sidney

Hi Sidney (again), the tranny fluid looks great, cherry and no burnt smell. I had the pan dropped and fluid and filters changed about 15,000 miles ago. The car has 92,000 miles. I added a can of "snake oil" (actually an additive that is suppose to reduce friction and make tranny run cooler). I don't know if this made things worse or what! The shifting is smooth and no clunking can be heard. The level is on the high end of the dip stick....

:)My tranny did the same thing and it turned out to be the shift selenoids - about $400.00 installed - the mechanic said these trannys rarely die - just selenoids
