Folks, I did get the address for a pretty neat reader. The addy is obddiagnostics.com. The software is downloadable for free. You then can purchase a cable and box (contains the chip) that interfaces your laptop via the serial port to the connector in the car. I just hooked up the thing to the rora and pulled a P0300 code??? Anyone know what this is?!?! LOL I haven't found a source for what the codes mean yet. My car has that dead cylinder in it right now. Hopefully this code will narrow it down. I think the programm also has a "miss" program in it that should help me diagonse the problem. More later, time to shut it down for the night.

P0300 means "Engine Misfire Detected." What year is your Aurora and how many miles are on it?

I have a 96 but at almost the exact same mileage my #3 & 8 coil went bad. It could also just be the spark plugs and/or the wires, have either been replaced?

I just replaced the plugs, there aren't any plug wires on the gen 2! It goes directly form the coil pack to the plug....kinda neat.

Well then I would say its probably one of the ignition coils. You could test the spark plugs on one side of the engine, since one coil sparks two plugs you'll be able to tell which coil is bad.
